While I don't love the idea of a swing-gate, I agree it is the most likely option. If Ford would offer a tailgate option with either spare tire delete or a swing-away tire carrier that was robust enough to handle a 35", I would consider it if it was affordable. There are popular aftermarket bumper options for the EB that offer this (instead of overstressing the rear quarter panel), but they are fairly expensive unless you're opting for a rear bumper upgrade in the bargain to begin with. I'll have to wait and see what configurations are available and adapt from there. Removing the top/doors/gate for summer should be a fine option if possible.
