Bought a new 2025 Heritage on December 30th of 2025. One week later, got a CEL. Took it back to dealership and they replaced the EGR valve. Got the Bronco back and drove it for 2 days and the CEL came back. Dealership replaced the EGR valve again, but CEL immediately returned. Now waiting on Ford Engineers to get back with dealership service department since they are stumped. So basically, we've been able to drive it for about 7 days since we've bought it. No real point of this thread other than to vent to someone. Never experienced something like this in 30 years of buying new vehicles.

I am going out on a limb and saying it’s not the Egr valve.
I’d try another shop if it’s not resolved this time.
Sometimes the shop is just not up to the task they are not all educated equally.
Best of luck, hope your taken care of soon.

What code did it throw that made them decide it was the EGR valve? Was it running rough? Sounds like you bought it new so it had next to no miles since then.

Things happen with mass-produced vehicles, and it sucks when you're the one who gets the trouble. With any kind of luck the Ford engineers will be able to tell them what's wrong with it, but as mentioned above, not all service techs, or service departments, are created equal. For instance, back when my 'Wagon quit running with no codes, the techs got stumped on what was wrong, and after the Ram tech got involved they determined it was a MAP sensor, they unplugged it and the truck fired right up, replaced it and it ran like brand new.

Check the battery is fully charged. Many have had bad batteries right off the lot. Also, If it sat on the dealer's lot for several months it's possible the battery is low. Low battery can cause multiple codes to be thrown.

What code does it throw?

Just had the same thing happen on mine yesterday. CEL came on, so I checked the ford pass app and it said egr Electrical fault. Brought it to the dealership, and they tried a couple things, then decided the egr valve needed replacement.

Weirdest Part of it all was I initially noticed something was up when I saw the voltmeter showing a discharge at idle, 12 volts while under power and the usual 14.7ish volts while coasting at hwy speeds. Then I noticed the CEL was on.

This was on a 2025 OBX that I bought Dec 22. It has 2100 kms (1260 miles) on it

I wonder if they have a bad run of sensors. Could be the sensor not the valve. Also interested to see what V are on the OP battery. Sorry OP I promise the vehicle is worth the headache. Out of the bag I'd be pissed or as one member pointed out TART!

Picked it back up today. Service techs said that they replaced EGR valve again but they are positive that is not the issue because both valves they replaced are checking out good. Basically, we have to drive it again, wait for the CEL to come back, take it back and then they can call Ford Engineers to look at it. If after the engineers look at it and can't figure out the issue, then the buyback process begins.

Also, we have to take it to the same dealership we purchased it from because no other dealership will touch it with so few miles since it was recently purchased and our dealership is putting a priority rush on it whereas other dealerships are 3 weeks out on appointments.

Sounds like they are trying to do the right thing.

Update 1/26/26 - they believe a wire on the engine harness is bad. Ford Engineering told them to put a jumper wire in, drive it for 65 to 150 miles and if that solves the problem, then they have to replace the harness. If not, it's back to square one...
