I think it is called luxury problems.
Cup holders getting in the way of your shifter is a luxury issue? Sounds more like an ergonomics issue to me.

Looks like I will be shifting like this when I have over sized cups of water (for the health conscious) in my cup holders
OMG I cannot stop laughing here. This is the best thing.

?washout interior?

Every car and truck I've owned eventually ended up with Coca-Cola stains. And not all of them were due to cupholder placement.

1.) Can rolled under the passenger seat and got left over night. Froze and developed a crack that shot out soda once it started thawing.

2.) My kid's hands were full and he busted a hole in the bottom of a styrofoam cup trying to lock the door with the cup.

3.) Glass bottles of Mexican Coke tend to fall over every time you turn.

And my all-time favorite...

4.) Can left in my truck on a 110+ degree day exploded coated the entire interior with sticky yuck!

So...

?washout interiors?

Y'know, I didn't buy a washout interior because I wanted it necessarily...but this is an unexpected perk.

I’m sorry. But I hate that this is even a concern. Would some one with this concern even want to drive a manual transmission?

Right?

Back when cell phones were the new fandangle my girlfriend [now wife] marveled at me driving a 5-speed while rolling down the window, smoking a cigarette, holding a drink between my thighs while talking on my phone... All while simultaneously turning left from stop when the light turned green.

Edit: Oh, and steering with my right knee while my right hand switched between steering and shifting. :ROFLMAO:

Do I want to make sure my buttery smooth shifts are not hampered by drinking vessels? I sure do.

Can you even drive a manual if you can't simultaneously do the crotch drink hold, while eating a cheesy gordita crunch, ripping gears, and flippin the bird to all the other terrible drivers out there?
Well said brother!

On my Mustang, I like to put my Coffee travel mug in the front cup holder, then I can use it as an arm-rest keeping my hand on the stick.
