Howdy. Has anyone else had recent issues with Android Auto BT connection? Mine was working well 95% of the time, but in the last week or so the dang thing is losing its BT connection every 3 or 4 minutes. My '22 WT Lux hasn't updated software since Feb '25. My Google Pixel 8 Pro last updated Nov 5th, 2025, but the problems started well after that.

Any suggestions? I'm wondering if they might be using some form of new wireless system here in WA state that is generating oodles of interference.

Edit: yes I've restarted my phone and vehicle multiple times and no I have not installed any new apps on either the phone or Bronco nor have I made any modifications. I did recently go wheeling in some pretty stinking wet conditions, though.

I use a dongle instead of Sync for the Bluetooth connection with my Android since it never worked good from Day One. However, these dongles are not created equal and you really can't go by the Amazon reviews. I probably tried about 4 or 5 before buying a non-Chinese one and it works great (so far). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBVMG9Y6

I have found that a lot of odd issues (phone not connecting, loss of sound, dropping out of XM, etc.) are corrected with a 'soft reboot' of the Autio system. Use the Power+FF
Ford Bronco Android Auto Bluetooth Connection Issues 1767019606068-u

I put a post-it on my dash to help me remember this and then didn't have to use it for about 4 months. Saved me from pulling over and shutting down completely.

Reboot the radio as @helifino16 stated above.

Also, have you done an over the air update recently? This happened to me a couple years ago, new update completely fucked up Android Auto for me. Had to reboot the radio every day for a matter of months. I eventually learned my lesson and turned off Sync Updates. And like an idiot, about 5 months ago figured Ford must have their shit together by now, let's turn on updates again..... Well, update occured, AA got fucked yet again. At this point, Sync updates are off for me and will remain that way!

I have tried the soft reboot multiple times and it has not helped. The truck has not updated since February 2025 and my phone since Nov 5th 2025. This connection loss deal just started in the last week or so.

There was a specific intersection by my house where I regularly lost connection for about 6 months. The cities and state have been putting up all kinds of speed cameras, electronic tolling, and Lord knows what else that might generate signal interference. If it's just.me, then that's probably not the problem.

@box986, if I can't figure out the root cause of this sudden connection issue, I may give that a shot.

You should really check out your WiFi? AA uses both bluetooth and WiFi. Bluetooth is initial connect, then WiFi handles the data transfers. Which phone do you have? Though I will say it's different from Bronco to Bronco. In my Bronco (2021), after updates I had all kinds of issues. It's been good for a while though. In my son's Bronco (2024), never had any connection issues. So it's weird to say the least. I originally had an S23 Ultra (which had issues after updates), and now a S25 Ultra (which also had issues after updates).

@KillerPenz, maybe all I had to do was b1tch and moan a little bit, because today it was flawless! After it was working OK....I did get in there and look the the various menus more. The Wifi had become disabled for some reason. I turned it back on just before I shut it down. We'll see what fresh new problems I get with that!

Mine works fine some days and others it drops every 3-4 minutes like clockwork. Soft boot only solves the problem until the next key cycle. Only had the vehicle for 3 weeks, but I suppose it could be a lag between SYNC update and a very recent S23 update

It's the same for me. Seemed fine for a day or two, now it's back to losing the connection constantly. I have a Pixel 8 Pro. It only started doing this around mid-December and I can't think anything I've done to cause such a thing and the phone or truck has not updated software in that time frame either. The wife's iPhone does not seem affected. It's becoming SUPER annoying. Google, if you're listening, I may finally get over my total disdain for Apple products if you keep this crap up!

The constant droputs became intolerable. So I ordered a 10 Gbps cable which came yesterday, and turned off WiFi on my phone so audio would have be hardwired rather than WiFi or bluetooth. So far no drops

Must update Android and get ultra high grade data cable from high end audio or OE.

I had this issue already in my 3 day old Bronco, but also had it in my 2021 Arteon with wireless car play. Here's what I noticed: it's using wireless carplay and phone is plugged in for charging, it might still try to connect through the charging cable. If your charging port is dirty it will break that connection multiple times causing issues with media etc to stop playing. You might check your charging port and see if there's any grime in there that needs to be cleaned out. Just my two cents
