Anyone else ride an ADV motorcycle?

I have been riding a motorcycle for going on 25 years now but as of a year ago I sold my Ninja 1000 for a KTM 1190 Adventure and I haven't looked back. These things are like a Leatherman on 2 wheels

I wouldn't call a 1190A a Leatherman. It's more like a Wusthof. It's the Porsche of the adventure bikes.

A DR650 is more like a Leatherman, a well-used one found in a well-worn leather sheath on a well-worn leather belt wrapped around a pair of wool pants under a pair of waders.

I did upgrade the seat this year to the Seat Concepts "tall" to get a bit more space and a much more comfortable ride. Mine is an odd year, because they only made the higher end suspension and the 350 two years. It is really still my favorite in the class, weighing about 260lbs with about 30 HP and a 6sp. Still better than the most current 300s HP/Weight and it's just less work to ride. I keep thinking about going to a 650, because I rarely ride single track anymore. If I found the right trade I probably would. I can ride hundreds of miles of two track from my cabin, so haven't really caught the ADV bug with luggage and all. May get into touring in a few years with the Mrs. once the Bronco is paid off

in 2010 my friend and I rode from Brownsville, TX to Tikal, GT and back. Only fell off once on the second to the last day in the northern mountains. The night after we left Tikal to head back into Mexico, had an unknown passenger, a tarantula appeared out of my shoe. He got a new home in Mexico. He could not pay the coyote fee.

Sold the Dakar to buy a T100. Now I am selling all 7 bikes maybe 6, the wife likes the T100, and buying a Bronco.

been riding 50 years...wouldn't be a desert nut if I didn't have a dirt bike...became a bike whore about 10 years ago...buy what I like, not what they tell ya to buy...A Zongsen RX4 from China...sold by CSC out here on the left coast... $6K loaded...so far pretty good....like ZackD play with some vintage bikes(kawi triples)on the track and a two wheeled Porsche for long distance work ( SCMA's 3 flags)

I am a lifelong bike guy as well, though I am more of a sprinter than a marathoner. In my youth I raced MX and enduro but settled on MX. In my time living in Australia I had a 2-stroke crotch rocket (RGV-250) which was awesome for both the twisties and for lane-splitting on my commute.

I graduated to supersports on the racetrack and enjoyed knee-dragging immensely. I now am back on the dirt with a KTM 350 EXC-F so not quite adventure touring. I’ll tow to the spots where I want the intense adventure!
