I have a 2021 badlands. Wanted to install the perimeter plus security system which plugs in to the gateway module. Cept I don’t see it under the steering wheel. The obdii cable feeds back up much further in to the dash and can’t see where it goes without further disassembly. Figured I’d ask before I go down that rabbit hole.
The install manual for the security system is generic and just says plug it in to gateway module.
Thanks

not 100% sure but I believe its behind the glove box. mine had to be replaced by the dealership. I remember them telling me the glove box was out when went to pick something up from it.

I’ll post pics of my install too.
I had this module in my sport and pulled it out to install here. Same part numbers.

Also going to experiment with what happens if you try to enable remote start via this on a manual transmission:)

Before you install. Do you see a part number on the wiring harness. Think the one I pulled out of my sport won’t work because of the difference in sync modules. The bronco uses a enhanced central gateway that is different.
have to try to find where I can get just the harness.

Here's what mine says (got the unit from Ford Accessories site):

Talked in person with the parts lady at the local dealership and she was able to find the harness. But it's $100 msrp. So I just bought the complete new kit and will sell my old one to a sport owner :)
Super simple to hook up. Zip tied the module to the metal frame.
However even at full sensitivity I can kick the winch mount and not trigger a warning, even with the truck wobbling afterwards.
Need to see if I can find a better mounting spot, but not when it's 102 heat index outside.

I attached it tightly to the gateway module. Still messing around with the sensitivity, but I can get it to honk by hitting the steering wheel.

I did miss the part in the manual about how to enable and arm it (turn Bronco off and on 6 times, etc.). I didn’t do that at first and it wouldn’t work at all.

I was a little leery of attaching it to the gateway module as it would cover up the cooling fins. Mine detects hits to steering wheel like the manual states. It’s just impacts to the modular bumper and the winch that it takes a huge shock to get it to alert.

You shouldn’t need to do the holding brake pedal and cycling ignition 6 times. That is for the remote start only. And even then the manual states vehicles that came with 4g modems or ford pass are already enabled from the factory.
You just have to turn it on and off once to learn that the vss module has been connected. That worked on my bronco sport and the remote start worked right away. I didn’t install the remote start jumper on this one as it’s a manual and I usually leave it in gear when parked. The first time you turn it off the doors lock then a second or two later unlock and that indicates it has learned the vss module.
