Well....another install weekend. This time an ARB dual onboard compressor with the Grimm Offroad vertical mount.

The install was pretty strait forward, with ALMOST no surprises. The mounting position allows for my Morrflate automatic 4 tire inflator to just plug in the top instead of having to hang it from the hood latch during use. A nice addition to any rig. You can hook up all 4 tires, set the pressure you want, turn on the compressor and it'll stop when the pre set pressure is reached.

It has an "OEM" look to the entire system IMO, if you spend a little time to clean up the wiring and attach them in OEM spots.

Only 2 minor issues during the install, one of which I solved by thinking ahead a little.

The first was the bracket location that is placed under the washer fluid refill spout. I'd recommend loosely installing this on the ECU prior to setting in the compressor and mount due to the lack of space to get your hands under there.

The second issue was one of the original ECU bolts that are re-used to mount the Grimm mount left the chat early and decided to go hang out with all my missing socks and 10mm sockets! 😂

I'd recommend tying a fishing line to those bolts while getting them started, then breaking off the line before tightening them up.

I dont think ill replace it though, as the ground bolt also doubles as another mounting point through the ground and Grimm mounting bracket.

The only thing I haven't decided yet was possibly wiring into my Switch Pro as a secondary "master switch" as well as the included under hood switch. I think I just need to clip the under hood switch power wire and instead hook in the Switch Pro power there, but I'll have to check wiring with Grimm to make sure that'll work.

If anyone has info on that, it'd help immensely. 😁

IMHO the Grimm Offroad and the ARB twin is the best looking combo available, definitely has an OEM look. Yes, the fishing string trick works, and after installing a few of these on Broncos, metric ratchet wrenches make it so much easier. As far as your switch delima, I can't answer that as I was going to just run the main to an upfitter but then thought "I"m lifting the hood anyway for heat dispersion.so why the extra work?" I would like to put an air chuck on my True North bumper, but haven't yet and it has worked like a champ going on 2 yrs.

I had the same thought about opening the hood, except, I'd like to have a master switch in the cab so the ARB switch wouldn't work in the case someone besides me was under the hood during a service or dealer visit and turned on the compressor accidentally.

On the other hand, I'd hate to take up one of my aux switches just for that.

Decisions, decisions. 😂
