Just curious if ford is building models in batches. My local dealer received several wildtrak's in a few months ago and last month when my black diamond came in they had 3 other ones. Now today 3 outerbanks.

It ultimately depends on what components they get and when, and the restrictions the various points in the assembly line have. There is no set pre-determined schedule or grouping when things get batched together.

For example... the paint line usually can only handle a certain number of colors at any given time. Not sure how many MAP has (6 maybe?), but if they have Cactus Gray, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Eruption Green, Carbonized Gray, and Iconic Silver loaded into the paint robots... well... then obviously none of the red or blue colors are getting painted at that time.

If there is a shortage of Wildtrak wheels (like there was a few months ago)... then very few if any Wildtraks will roll down the line. Once they get their shipment of wheels... there likely will be a surge of Wildtraks that all previously had their production dates bumped due to the component shortage.

Yep this 100%. Also add in MIC tops and 7 speed manuals. Seemed my group was very high on these.

It is obvious building specific models is a reality. Early in the game it was Big Bends out the wazoo. Then Outer Banks ruled. Late last spring Bad Lands we’re being pumped out. The last few months WildTraks are the overwhelming model arriving. No doubt it was done like this to accommodate the commodity fiasco as best as possible in order to keep the assembly line active. Unfortunately for the consumer it was yet another hurdle to overcome in order to take possession of the coveted Bronco.
