aux switch to override amp power steps?

hi, i have the amp power steps and the override switch. i wanted to wire the down command to one of the aux switches.

i think if i step down the 12v to 5 from the aux switch and send it to the black wire it should active.

before i did anything i wanted to see if anyone had tried wiring to the aux switch with success?

I have for my rockslide steps, I had to add a 5 pole relay to the mix because it needed to be normally closed, and the built-in relays are normally open only, so I have the relay controlled by the switch controlling a relay wired up as normally closed that replaces the override switch.
