I’d assume none of those light bars are legal for use on the street
That doesn't stop people. Not much makes me as mad as people using damn light bars on the street. Especially at night in the rain. Makes it impossible for everyone else on the road to see anything.

Ok, so what I want to end up with is Bronco on 37’s with the manual and 4.7 gearing. Looking at the options it comes down to the BL without the Sas. It seems like the BL has everything the Sas does, minus the wheels/tires so the real question would be if a lift would be required to clear the 37s? If so, then it pretty much negates all other plans forcing a start from square one anyway…until more information becomes available.

I am good with the 2.3L and the numbers it has. Since the JL has been successful with the 2.0, producing lower power and pushing 37s… I am confident in the Ford’s capabilities. This isn’t a money saving decision, but a desire to keep the 7M. If Ford decides to allow 1) Sas with manual and/or 2) the 2.7 with the manual, then I will reconsider.

The only other point to consider would being what the wife wants creature comforts wise…

Any thoughts, considerations, concerns, etc?

My understanding is most folks expect the plans for all of the trims except First Edition. That's consistent with past precedent.

In the Badlands club. Shooting for:

Badlands / High / 4 door / 2.7 / black and white

Swinging back and forth on the Sasquatch. I mean we already get the locking diffs, swaybar, the Sas at this point only really gives you the slight lift and 35 Mud tires over 33 AT tires. If the upgrade is the same price for us as say the Black Diamond, is it even really worth it? Might be cheaper to just get bigger tires and the lift?

Or am I missing something else?

Factory warranty and no dealerships playing games because it's lifted.

You get different gearing with Sas also (4.46 v. 4.70), but I'm in the same boat as you. I want to end up with Sawybar Disconnect and 35s....optimally 35 A/Ts.. I would order without Sas, but don't want to regret not having a better low end when I do put 35s on....or if the additional lift is very costly. Tough call. I'd like to see both trucks in person prior to order....but probably not going to happen.

@MVP, thank you for the very detailed reply. I really appreciate the information.

My dilemma is the 6K difference in price between the BD and the Badlands. The part time 4wd system is sufficient, I don't need the front stabilizer bar disconnect, and I'm uncertain if I could discern the differences between the suspension systems.. The leaves the 32" tires vs. the 33" tires, the upgraded front axle, and the front locker as the only upgrades that I would really use and benefit from. The extra clearance from the tires is always helpful and I know I would use the front locker. But 6K for just these things is a LOT of money.

Ideally, I would like to add just the front locker (even if I have upgrade the front axle too) as an ala-cart option. I'm just not sure Ford is going to make this available in this manner.
Sway bar disconnect is most useful on rocky trails or trails with many deep diagonal drainage ruts. It is really nice to have. On Jeeps, the Rubicons maintain their value better than the other models. However I think that is more based on the lockers and stronger axels than the disconnect.

On the Bronco, the Badlands is the model for which the articulation numbers come from. I think Sasquatch will get you close with the lockers and the HOSS, and you could add manual disconnects later (sway bar links with pins you pull out). Sort of depends how much BD + Sasquatch costs, versus the value of the add ons on the Badlands.

As for JLs wandering. You get used to it. Beyond the Jeep front axle, part of that is big tires too. Broncos with 33s or 35s won’t behave like Subarus.;)

I think you are correct. Wheels, tires and extended fenders. I’m sure you will be able to buy the fenders.

if I was going to Squatch it I would save the money and buy some Method wheels and actually choose the tire I want later. That way you don’t look like everyone else.

Edit: oh yeah someone mentioned the 4.7 final drive since you are automatic.

So glad i got an early reservation for badlands. Im a stickler for a clean vehicle. Its going to be 2 door badlands squatch pkg. Sounds crazy, but if im going black im not going with standard black top but color option black top(same finish as body).. . on 2 door rubicons it looks so clean when its polished. Or I could go silver and black and have the body silver with the black fenders and black top to break everything up.

A lot of Jeepers out there on 37’s and 4.1. The Rubicon the transfer case 4WL ratio is lower though. Me, I don’t really think I want the 35’s. But that may change the first time I pass through Uwharrie back down at 10.5” from 14”.

Deposit in for a 4 door Badlands. I'm thinking the Mid package, hardtop, and probably the orange.

Not judging your logic, but just stating an observation. On the JL, Wranglers aren’t meant to go fast at all. The SFA, very boxy non-aerodynamic shape, gearing, etc make it purpose built to be a crawler. It’s a true brick, which is just fine for traversing trails.

Bronco is built as more of a desert runner. Sure, Badlands is a trail runner and somewhat of a rock crawler, as far as capabilities, but it’s also going to cut better through wind, just a tad.

Although I’m going with the 2.7 and auto for off road driving (can’t stand a manual when crawling - too much work for me and distracts from my wheel placement), I don’t really plan to run fast. Getting the bigger engine for easier driving under load when heading out to camp or overland West or on ski Trips.

Your wife may enjoy the auto unless you know she’s into the manuals also. if so, damn you got lucky with her friend! :)
