OP is from Canada and has different pricing. I went to the Ford.ca build and price and couldn't duplicate OP's prices, prices seem different from US - OBX starts at only $500 more than Black Diamond and already includes Mid pack and automatic trans. In the US, OBX starts at $3k more than BD.

USA:
Ford Bronco BD vs OBD - need some help 1614008613757

Canada:
Ford Bronco BD vs OBD - need some help 1614008472453

So you add 2.7 and 4A (which includes locker) to OBX, it's cheaper than adding 2.7 (+auto upcharge), mid, and 4A to BD. They were already close, but now the BD has way more in options added.

yes, I made sure both models had:

- 2.7
- auto
- advanced 4x4
- rear locker
- mid package

what am I missing?

Most agree with the OP on the steps, but honestly for the price, I can't stand the unfinished look of the underbody versus what $395 removes from my pocket. And for my choice of the WT, I dont get rock rail options (not that I would need them, but at least they would hide the hideous unfinish body look). I may end up keeping them anyways (I have little ones that kind of need them), but I may end up changing their finish as well, maybe truckliner coverage, repainted, etc.

I don't like the Grandpa Steps just as much as the rest, but disposal? Store them in the garage to reinstall on trade/resale of the Bronco, sell the steps on FB Marketplace/Craigslist, or scrap them. Unless you have no access to scrap yards, all three option shouldn't be "hard".
I'll take 'em! Can add to rock rails on BD no prob.

I am upgrading to one of these as I want the advanced 4x4, but both have their cons (for me)

OBX
- don't like the step at all - can this be easily removed? (ugly and no need imo)
- prefer 17 wheels vs 18 but I know I can change this

BD
- costs a few thousand more but get mgv
- aux switches will be useless to be
- another GOAT mode - rock crawl - may never use

I am sold on 2.7 auto, mid package, advanced 4x4, rear locker.

thoughts?
it's all preference. But if the cost isn't an issue. MGV is what sold me on the BD.

OBX is nice, but I never really bought into it. Not a fan of the painted handles, fenders, wheels, etc...

and as another thread that was recently started stated, you think the Aux switches will be useless... until you have them, and then you'll find something to buy for them. haha.

Unless I screwed it up....

Black Diamond comes in at $67,556 (tax. incl)
Outerbanks comes in at $65,065 (tax. incl)

based on those options

Will not be doing any major rock crawling
ah ok inc Tax, forgot about that high Ont tax!
glad I don't live there anymore ha ha

if this helps, I was back and forth like everyone and totally new to offroading
OBX - don't like the interior, tires and painted flares, too much work to fix up the way I wanted from other trims
BD - liked the better offroad, interior is one of the best colours + MGV + washout

I ultimately settled on BL as I want the offroad + sig + high, plus I decided this is a 'want' purchase so I increased my budget
I don't need SAS as I won't be offroading/crawling that hard
if my budget decreases I'm going BD

I think I would lean towards BD if price was the same. Not sure how others are getting BD coming in at a cheaper cost? nd the switches...well, time will tell I guess but I don't see me using them

looks like pricing is different in Canada. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure I could make the BD more expensive than OBX if I tried. haha

Oh, and fog lights. I think that's at the very least what I'll use an Aux switch for.

not sure your exact config Mike
but if you pick cloth on OBX with everything else somewhat comparable the OBX is slightly cheaper than BD, at least when I was doing daily B&P routines

well worth the $300 to get the aux switches at the factory, better to have an not need at that price

I was in the same boat. Once I decided the advanced 4x4 was a must I was between BD and OBX. I am going OBX. I know my bronco will see the paved road the majority of its life so that helped me lean OBX. Also, I do like the body color pieces.

Price wise with my options they are almost identical, the BD 46805 and the OBX 46420.

- MIC - sound deadening
