There was an issue with early production, Wildhorses had a video on it but all those dudes are extremely hard on their Broncos.
If I remember correctly it had more to do with a production issue causing rust to form in the joint and eventually cause the reservoir to fall off than it did with how it was used

I was referring to the top shock mount cracking...

This was a different problem which I haven't seen before, the shock top failed.

The top of the shock or the mount?

I see…
I misspoke, it’s was the upper mount for the upper rear track bar that was cracking, nothing to do with the shock anyways! lol

I'm dealing with this same issue right now, 27,000 miles currently and the reservoir rusted clean off the rear strut, and because it's missing my local dealer is saying the damage must be impact-related (I've had no collisions) and is refusing to warranty. Going to try taking it to another dealer to see if they offer a different answer, but it's pretty frustrating that they're worming their way out of covering a clear manufacturing defect.

@Ford Motor Company is there any way to contest a denied warranty claim for a defective part like this?

Finally got this fixed under warranty. Had to go to a few different dealers before one finally relented and replaced the shock. For anyone in the same predicament, I'd recommend gathering as many threads and photos of this same rust damage and emailing it to the head of service at the dealership, they'll have a much harder time trying to claim it's collision damage if you can hand them 20 examples of identical corrosion damage that establishes a pattern of defectivity.

Just a follow up. Dealer will replace the 1 rear shock the res fell off of, under warranty. Won't do anything about the 3 leaking shocks. Unfortunately the shock is back ordered till mid September....
Thinking next spring I'll upgrade to the eibach coilovers

Some people might pull off the other three reservoirs, spray some rust accelerator, and say lookey what I found. But all it would get you is another set of defective shocks.

Look at the two photos. The black rubber thing that says Bilstein is a reservoir. Where that hole is was where the reservoir was attached. I actually wonder if the method used to place the reservoir on the shock body corrodes, which then eventually releases and corrosion around the joint causes the reservoir to break off when there's some sudden movement like hitting a bump in the road.
My rear reservoir on drivers side fell off also. I'm waiting to hear Fords response from the dealership. My 2022 Badlands Sasquatch is still in the service department and upon their inspection they notified me that the passenger side reservoir was in bad shape and will need to be replaced as well. As a Ford owner I'm concerned and disappointed my Bronco is only a year and a half old pavement princess with 20,500 Miles. I pray Ford and Bilstein resolves this issue. Despite this issue I still believe my Bronco is better than any Jeep I owned in the past. As one owner to all other 6G owners take time to look under your vehicle and inspect your rear shocks. Look for corrosion, a loose / missing

rubber reservoir or any signs of a leaking shock. For the sake of safety this issue can be very dangerous for an unexperienced driver or for someone not aware of the shock failure. God Bless.

Can also confirm shakiness of OEM Bilstein Sasquatch shocks. Had 6100s installed on my 2022 today and both rear shocks were leaking. I do a lot of BDR and forest road driving but expected better at only 21,000 miles.
