Something that's happened to me 3 or 4 times now...

My 2Dr Base V6/Auto is just sitting there with the engine off (aka parked)... and the horn starts honking.

Last time it took me a while to find my FOB... and it stopped on its own.

Obviously not a big deal -- but has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like your alarm turning on. Check your hood bumpers, it may need some alignment.

Or the fob in your pocket is having the panic button inadvertently pressed...since it is by default set to single press for panic - it is easily tripped. I (and many others) used Forscan to switch mine to double press for panic.

Shouldn't be the FOB... cause it was in my gym bag (unless it was having a panic attack being around those clothes).

I guess it could be the FOB misfiring though. If it happens again I'll swap with a different FOB.

I'll check the hood bumpers, and then see. But then again in regard to the hood -- this happened after sitting around for 1/2 hour. Note: New electronics can be fun!

This, I had the same problem. The FOB is super sensitive.
I stole a trick from Mitch @Wild Horses 4x4 when I saw him at BBBB last year. I just carabiner it to a belt loop. Problem has been solved.
We can all learn something good from anyone 🤠

Are you getting any messages on your Ford app?

I had to replace my hood switch (not fun) and my hood alarm finally stopped going off.

Wouldn't the hood switch be covered under warranty?

Even though I was a software engineer... I'm kind of a knuckle-dragger when it comes to the Ford App.

Just checked it though... no issues.

If it's the hood latch it is covered by warranty. But can be tricky to convince the dealer if you can't replicate it. You should get an alarm message on your FordApp each time the alarm is triggered. However, the message disappears from the app after a day or two. Make sure to take a screen shot of the message. Use the screen shot as evidence to convince your dealer to take action.

Well, so far it is still a mystery. I happened Saturday, and no message on the Ford App (although like you said it may have been deleted).

Hi Owl,
This has happened to me several times, always after I've driven a long distance at high speeds. The alarm goes off, I fumble with the key fob, and then the Ford app tells me someone has tried to open the hood.
... so the wind is lifting the hood?
As ac360 says, it's hard to convince the service rep to fix it as it is not reproducible in the shop, and a screen shot of the Ford app message might help ...
... or not. :- (
If this is your issue, the fix is likely either adjusting the hood bumpers or replacing the hood alarm switch. I would hope the warranty covers these fixes.

Well, it was about a 50 mile drive. I guess I'll do as suggested (take picture) if the problem happens again and is registered by the Ford App.

Maybe I'll play around a little later... trying to manually lift top while it is sitting (on and off).

Such fun!

Yes, it is. But for me at the time it was worth buying the switch and swapping it out rather than waste a day or two with the dealer.
