Found out the hard way that upgrading the wheels on a non-SAS Badlands to Method Trail 703s can cause some wheel rub on the front crash bars since the Methods are a little wider/different offset than stock Badlands wheels. Also, I have the capable bumper so removing the front crash bars was not straight-forward.

I thought I would have to remove the whole capable bumper but I found that I could just remove the trim on the back edge of each side and then get the crash bars out.

5/16 socket/wrench gets the bumper rear trim bolts off.

15mm socket/wrench works well on the crash bar bolts. Had to spray the bolts with some WD40 to help loosen them.

Hope this helps someone if then end up where I did 😆

@MR_LIONBOT Did you leave the trim off the bumper? Mind sharing a picture?

Sorry, I put the trim back on. It’s a bit of a hassle to get off, had to use socket and small wrench to get to all the little bolts.

Also, the driver side trim piece has some wiring running through it that I didn’t want to pull off. Thought it best to leave the trim on.

I looked at changing out the fogs, but decided against due to how complicated the trim was.

@MR_LIONBOT Thanks for the detail here. Did you just remove the very front crash bars? Also did you have to remove the wheels as well in order to get to the crash bars?

I'm picking up some Wildtrak wheels & tires today to go on my OBX (non-SAS).
