Are the head units the same in the standard and B&O system? Are all the speakers in the B&O system driven by the amplifier or just the sub? Any just driven through the head unit? Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find any answers. Last audio update I did was a reverb in my 65 Falcon.

The APIM should be identical, only major variants I'm aware of are "8 inch", "12 inch no nav", and "12 inch nav"

All speakers should be powered by an external amp on B&O but someone with wiring should confirm, I'm basing this off how premium audio worked on all previous Fords

The APIM is indeed more or less identical from an audio perspective, @XirallicBolts is correct about that. However... the audio system is different.

The standard audio system has a single ACM (Audio Control Module) with 4-channels on it:
  • Right kick panel & right dash
  • Left kick panel & left dash
  • Right rear pod
  • Left rear pod
The B&O audio system has an ACM as well as an external DSP. The ACM and DSP communicate with each other via a digital signal.
  • ACM
    • Left rear pod
    • Center dash
    • Right rear pod
  • DSP
    • Left kick panel
    • Right kick panel
    • Left Mid/Tweeter
    • Right Mid/Tweeter
    • Subwoofer (two channels)
If you managed to get the 7-channel speaker setup before that was suspended... you have an external DSP that as far as I can tell effectively serves as an amp—it receives an analog left/right from the ACM and feeds a subwoofer.

Is the ACM part # different between the standard & b&o levels? If so what is the b&o part #?

So if I have a 2023 Big Bend, with subwoofer delete (grill in rear 1/4 empty), I should have the ACM similar to the B&O system? I want to upgrade and add a subwoofer in the rear panel, just want to be sure I get the right kit.

Thanks.

I haven't seen the wiring diagram for 2023MY with the subwoofer delete, so can't say for certain.

My guess is the ACM in the 2023MY Bronco is probably the same ACM that is in the Explorer with a different firmware config running on it. If my guess is correct, it is definitely not the B&O ACM.

I have some PDF from the Ford wiring diagram I can send if it will help you decipher what I may need.

Sure, send it over. Need the audio diagrams to know if the pinout changed.

Thanks. The pin-outs and wiring harnesses are the same between 2021/2022 and 2023 ACM (non-B&O).

Not exactly sure what you are looking to do, but I would imagine just about any of the plug and play kits that worked for the 2022MY Bronco should also work on the 2023MY with the sub delete.

EDIT--

I just looked at this more. I'm pretty sure if you had the sub-delete you can just turn on the sub output on the ACM again with a simple switch in Forscan/FDRS and wire up your own amp.

I was going to go with the Complete Package B from PlugnPlay, that will add the 10" compact sub. Just wanted to be sure it would work.
