I feel your pain. Here's what a defective Rough Country hood strut kit did to my Bronco. They've taken no responsibility for it either after emailed them about it either. Just told me I can send them back the kit for a refund or they'll send me another - neither solution that fixes the damage their product caused.

How the heck did the hood strut do that way over there?

RC's hood struts use these brackets that slip in between the little holes on the bottom side of the hood. They are more towards the middle of the hood than the edge. As soon as the brackets began to bear the weight of the hood, the angled part applied pressure to the hood from the backside damaging it. I later discovered these are supposed to be flat & not angled like this.
