With as agressive as the major manufacturers are focused on making the next generation of their vehicles "all electric", I find it an interesting time to release a new vehicle altogether....
We are decades, many of them, from the end of ICE.

What. A. Tease.
Well, I appreciate you keeping the pot stirred and the excitement up. Who needs drugs?
Edit- ...aside from some blood pressure medication, that is.

I would imagine a hybrid or PHEV would be based on the Explorer 3.3 system. Which If they price it like the explorer (hybrid same price as the 2.3) it would be worth it!

then by the next generation in 2035 or so there should definitely be a fully electric version. If not sooner.

I highly doubt that. Just due to weight. That aviator is a PIG no reason to have that kind of PHEV on a off road vehicle. (Over 1000lbs heavier than a non hybrid)

Personally if the numbers are like the explorer hybrids and it can tow 5,000+ I think I would option it as long as it stays as a $2.5. Then add a fabricated 30 Gal fuel tank. Estimate that I get 22 average (explorer average 27), with a 30 Gal tank we are looking at 660 miles of range. I’m about that.

As the saying goes, "no one is going to drive it off road anyway," so pork it up.

I’m generally not a fan of electric, but I’d be totally down to buy a hybrid Bronco if it were paired to a manual transmission. But seeing as it most likely won’t be, I had to vote “no” on the poll

Uh what the hell are you talking about?

From the Lincoln Aviator site:

Base Curb Weight (lbs.)
4,742 Lincoln Aviator - Gas
4,863 Lincoln Aviator - Grand Touring Hybrid

Damn by this estimate I’m a full blown hog. I would add 200lbs to the regular one making it weigh more than the hybrid! :piggybank:

Interesting. I'm not completely up to date, is there both a mild hybrid and phev version?

According to car and driver the curb weight of the plug-in hybrid is 5843lbs, "some 648 pounds more than the regular non-hybrid Aviator"
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a29676290/2020-lincoln-aviator-grand-touring-by-the-numbers/

Still not over 1000 lbs difference, but 650 is significant

The I'm not sure how much the 10R Hybrid transmission weighs vs the standard 10R, but the new battery pack on the Escape Hybird and I'm assuming Aviator is only 60 pounds or so.

I checked the the weight of the PHEV Escape vs the regular Hybird and it adds about 250lbs. Its FWD only. I'm wondering if the PHEV Aviator has more standard features that add more weight.

So figure about 300 or so pounds for an apples to apples comparison.

true. I was going XL Explorer to Aviator Hybrid.
so the extra 300+ was probably luxury items. But to have a 500+ hp hybrid system is going to weigh to much to make any difference off roading.
