... last time you parked the auto shut off kicked in and you put it in park and thought you had turned the ignition off and left the vehicle. Then later the battery monitor realized the battery was low and decided to start and charge the battery so you won't have a dead battery next time.
To me, this seems like the most plausible explanation so far.

You start off quoting Edward Snowden? :ROFLMAO: Dude, no :cautious:

The OP is out in the middle of nowhere with no one around. Plus, no one wants to steal your Bronco bro. There’s no insane market for ā€œstockā€ parts with it yet, it isn’t as easy to steal as a KIA with costs cut everywhere to make it ā€œlookā€ expensive while in fact itā€˜s just a cheap POS that a KIA is.

The fact that you and the OP instantly find the implausible, plausible first, beyond a mistaken button press by someone in the home where the keys are hanging on a hook by the damn door, where there are children present just enlightens us on who you are. Tin Foil Hat, ā€œmust be a big conspiracy against me, even though I’m a nobody with nothing of real valueā€ is laughable.

No one is out to get you man, most people don’t even know you exist, neither are they out to get me; I’m no one special either.

It’s inflammatory to put out there vehicles starting on their own. We hear of all types of crap on the forum all day for the past 3 years, but what we havenā€˜t heard is the truck starting itself. Why not? It’s not aliens, or a foreign country, or even AI…… yet. It’s because, vehicles don’t start themselves. Sort of like how guns don’t fire on their own without a trigger manipulation although when convenient, some tell stories that they do….
Oh boy... I never quoted Snowden you goof ball. Work on your critical reading skills. I was simply illustrating that the tech to remote access modern vehicles is very prevalent. Similarly, spoofing keys with a $200 FLIPER off of Amazon is old hat and readily available.

I live in a state with the highest rates of auto theft. Cars do not start themselves. People start them when they are trying to steal them. Simple stuff, buddy.

So I just remembered this happen to me a couple of years ago with my F150 Raptor as I was sitting at my computer desk and got a notice from my garage security camera that there was movement inside the garage (it picks up sound also). I check the camera and here my truck was running and I have no idea why. I spent hours trying to figure it out checking the keys to see if they were moved around with other items and buttons got pushed.
In the end I found that I was able to look into the Ford Pass app and found a log that showed the truck was started from the app. So at the time my phone was in my pocket and somehow touching another item or rubbing against my leg manage to find the app and push and hold the start icon, I can't believe that's what happen but that's my story and it let me sleep at night when it happened... Just like pocket dialing someone and I am sure that happens to everyone at some point.. No B.S

The answer is simple. Your Bronco is really the Autobot Rockhound. When you guys came out, he was trying to sneak off to a meeting with Optimus Prime. So he had to make it look like an error. I mean let's look at the facts.

You're in the middle of nowhere.
Lots of acres to not be seen by human eyes
He could be off and back before you notice.

or maybe he wanted to stretch his legs.
Or perhaps a Terrocon or Decepticon was nearby. You did not see any Jeeps nearby...like out of place did you?

There is more than meets the eye here.....

Do you honestly believe Hollywood came up with those stories and movies on its own????

Your hitting the dial with your leg when you get in. This problem has plagued me since day one
Nope. Late at night when I'm at work. Never getting in. It happens about 2-3 times every couple months.

You are darn lucky it didn't escape before you discovered that it started itself. A few more minutes head start and it would have been on the road heaed to Moab. People just dont understand that if you do not take these broncos out off road regularly, they will make a break for it and go on their own. You need a bigger corral.

All I can tell is is what happened as related I the original post. No explanation on my end and not trying to stir up any internet craziness as one commenter alleged.
Saw what I saw and wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. I LOVE my Bronco but we all know there have been some ā€œuniqueā€ occupancies with the launch of this machine. Goodness knows the world of over the air updates is somewhat uncharted territory for some companies as well.
Hey Ford. This is something that really needs a careful evaluation. Had the Bronco started in his garage and not been heard, carbon monoxide poisoning could have been lethal. It happens every year several times when people accidentally leave their running in the garage. Please put this on your priority list.

The technology is there. Certain.gov agencies have had the ability to accelerate, brake, deploy airbags and disable the vehicle. If .gov can do others can too. Bluetooth technology has made it possible. The digital revolution has made the world a hacker’s paradise.
You are correct

I think this is reversed alien technology at work
Ya that would freak me out and spend many hours trying to figure it out.
Could this happen with an auto start-stop function error?

not sure if it's possible , but it would be easy to try. It shouldn't and if it did start the engine it has a 30 minute idle time and should shut down after. A remote start is timed to shut off after 15 minutes or can be adjusted for less.

Did anyone mention this would be horrible during an oil change? 😬 Someone did mention disconnecting the battery during service. šŸ‘
