So, even after measuring way to many times. The bottom right hole for my tailgate table was just a little off.

I can get the screw In but that corner joint doesn’t sit properly. I’m guessing it’ll work it’s way loose. Since it’s on an angle, if I tighten the screw more it pushes the open part of the frame out.

Anyone have any fix suggestions other than telling me I botched my tailgate?

Lock washer won’t help. You need a fender washer to spread the load when tightened and to keep it flat, that way it doesn’t catch the edge of the screw and push it away. ✌

You made them same mistake I did. You followed instructions. The problem is that the frame will inevitable arrive out of square so marking all four holes is stupid.

The instructions should read:
  1. Locate and drill the top left hole.
  2. Temporarily fasten the frame.
  3. Mark and drill the top right hole.
  4. Temporarily fasten the frame.
  5. Ensuring each leg is perpendicular to the top of the frame, mark and drill the bottom holes.

Had I done that way it would have saved me hours. I ended up slotting the frame's holes with a tiny grinder on a Dremel tool to get everything square.

You'll want to make sure your left leg is perpendicular to the top and not angle down to the left. If it is, you can slot the hole to square it up. You will also want to check the right leg to make sure it is not bent down and to the right. Again, slot as needed. If everything is nice and plumb and square and your hole is off a fender washer is your answer.

I also added a couple rubber stoppers centered in height at the 1/3 and 2/3 mark in widths to the tailgate to preload the table when closing. It eliminates rattle if you have stuff strapped to it.

In the end it worked out fine and I like it but I'm pissed at myself for following the stupid instructions instead of thinking it through.
