Gotcha. So, a one-piece, rather than two. I can see why that would be preferable…
So it looks like the key here is to have a hitch short enough not to cause trouble, but just long enough that you can kinda access the cargo hold?

For the record... an extension is ok as long as one considers the %50 rule. I just don't think extensions are worth it when you can pick up a long one for the same price. Like what was mentioned, you don't lose capability with the longer hitch. I just picked up this one for my boat.Got any pics of the hitch you’re using? I’m trying to visualize the difference between a “hitch extension” and an “extra-long hitch”…
Cool rooftop tent on your Bronco!Pulls the boat pretty well. Plenty of power from the V6, but on the highway the bumps in the road are felt a little due to the wheelbase.
Hi, I am interested in getting into RV camping. Can you possibly share the full mode name of this RV and the Jayco you posted above? I would need an RV the bronco could pull.
So, I have been getting into RV camping this past year and love it. This unit I rented, and I am looking into purchasing this model for myself. at $14k new it is great for me and my two dogs. The trailer weighs 3,000lbs and pulls great. Better than the one I had before but I will attribute that to the hitch setup. Before I was running a hitch extension which I learned is a no-no. I am running an extra-long hitch which doesn't affect the towing capacity like an extension does. So much less sway and much more confident. Also added a Curt wireless brake controller which worked very well. I think if I were to run this setup cross country, I would get a weight distribution just to even the ride out and be extra safe.
How does the trailer jack not hit the spare when you turn?Should have posted this a long time ago but just now saw this post. Rented the smallest Airstream with bathroom etc you can back in Jan for a trip to Florida. Pulled find with Ford aftermarket tow hitch and wiring harness (no brake controller yet).
It actually did.... but not until I turned very sharp leaving the campground at the end. So something to beware of and learn from me. However, it was a fairly minor scratch on my wheel and trailer jack and the camper owner didn't even notice it. But I am glad you reminded me (I had forgotten) as it could have been worse. I rented this halfway between NC and Florida so it wasn't something I was prepared for in advance. Lesson learned for sure. How does the trailer jack not hit the spare when you turn?
