Heres my setup. Finally got the wiring harness installed (thanks to a great thread on here) and installed new tail lights on the trailer and everything is working. (y)
Trailer has been around longer than I have (father had it growing up and he gave it to me a few years back). It's built on an old Ford axle.

Got any pics of the hitch you’re using? I’m trying to visualize the difference between a “hitch extension” and an “extra-long hitch”…
For the record... an extension is ok as long as one considers the %50 rule. I just don't think extensions are worth it when you can pick up a long one for the same price. Like what was mentioned, you don't lose capability with the longer hitch. I just picked up this one for my boat.

The 12" length is what I needed to get past the 33 on the BD.

Pulls the boat pretty well. Plenty of power from the V6, but on the highway the bumps in the road are felt a little due to the wheelbase.

Ok. So has anyone figured if the Raptor 4500 pound tow ratings just due to its bumper and extra support brackets. Or is that rating tied in with more like axle and whatever.

Should have posted this a long time ago but just now saw this post. Rented the smallest Airstream with bathroom etc you can back in Jan for a trip to Florida. Pulled find with Ford aftermarket tow hitch and wiring harness (no brake controller yet).

So, I have been getting into RV camping this past year and love it. This unit I rented, and I am looking into purchasing this model for myself. at $14k new it is great for me and my two dogs. The trailer weighs 3,000lbs and pulls great. Better than the one I had before but I will attribute that to the hitch setup. Before I was running a hitch extension which I learned is a no-no. I am running an extra-long hitch which doesn't affect the towing capacity like an extension does. So much less sway and much more confident. Also added a Curt wireless brake controller which worked very well. I think if I were to run this setup cross country, I would get a weight distribution just to even the ride out and be extra safe.
Hi, I am interested in getting into RV camping. Can you possibly share the full mode name of this RV and the Jayco you posted above? I would need an RV the bronco could pull.

How does the trailer jack not hit the spare when you turn? 😳

It actually did.... but not until I turned very sharp leaving the campground at the end. So something to beware of and learn from me. However, it was a fairly minor scratch on my wheel and trailer jack and the camper owner didn't even notice it. But I am glad you reminded me (I had forgotten) as it could have been worse. I rented this halfway between NC and Florida so it wasn't something I was prepared for in advance. Lesson learned for sure.

On a related note, I did have a hitch extension ready to go but realized that it reduces your tongue weight significantly, which this was near the limit already. THus I didn't use it. If I had, it would have been fine.

It is a Jayco Jay Feather 7 16XRB
and the Coleman Lantern LT 17B

I prefer and will be purchasing the Coleman RV. They go on sale for a really good price at times and it was really nice. The Bronco had no issue pulling either RV.
