Hello all, just sharing my cargo storage/bed platform for my 4D Wildtrak. Made to level out an air mattress in the back for camping and give some more hidden storage. Has one big compartment in the middle and two small ones in the front along with a decently-sized drawer. Height of the storage areas is 5 1/2 inches. You can pull out the drawer to still access the hidden compartment in the floor of the cargo area. All in all it probably weighs roughly 25-30lbs and can be easily removed when not needed, though it also fits with the rear seats upright as well. Let me know what y’all think!

Ya know, it’s stuff like this that makes me somewhat annoyed about being 6’5”. This and pants shopping. Oh, and motorcycles. It’s actually a lot of stuff. Nice setup though!

That kind of reminds me of the way I set up a FJ55 Landcruiser back in the late 70s. It served me well for almost 15 years. The main difference was I set up a higher platform for the mattress to set on and there was enough room to put a good size cooler under it. The platform folded up into a kind of U shape to store the two piece foam mattress when we were not sleeping so we could have easy access to the stuff under the platform.

Also, mine was not as clean looking as yours. Good job. Did you have the air mattress custom made for the Bronco or did you find one to fit?

Thank you! That sounds like a nice setup too. Just not too much height in these to pull that off and be comfortable. I actually found the mattress on Amazon! It was a generic SUV mattress but I took the risk and it’s a perfect fit.

Not to hijack your thread, but will add photos of a similar set up if others read into this thread down the road. I went with the Bronco storage box, built a leveling platform, and run the deepsleep mattresses. I’ve dressed it up a good bit since these photos, adding seadek foam to the box and cargo area.

I have the Aldi version of a sleeping arrangement - a Deep sleep leveling mat + $20 Amazon "self inflating" foam mat on top of it. Up in 2 minutes, less than 2 minutes to take down in the morning. Rolls down to very little and lives in a HD yellow storage bin in the back most of the year.

I may try to find a longer version of a mattress like this to use with my slide-out tailgate and a tailgate tent. I’m pretty level back there because of the slide-out, although without the handy storage you have. I would just need to put something on the extended slide-out to make it reasonably level with the rest. Then I can rest my giraffe legs on it.

I’m right at your height and run the deepsleep setup. If you flip your headrests around you won’t need to pack the footwells to fill the gap for extra length.

Also, praise to the Honda XR650L. 🙌

What kind of tailgate tent do you have? Been looking for one for the Bronco- most of what I see are for trucks/suvs or mini vans with the lifting back hatch.

That’s a great option! Can you still get to the in floor compartment and jack decently easy with it? That was my only concern with a drawer install like this.

You can! Granted I still moved all of that stuff to the inside of the compartment. I decided to ultimately mount the drawer on top of the rubber floor mat for carpet protection and didn’t want to cut the floor mat to access the storage below.
