I paid $1300 which included the windows, but not the wheels. They gave me a 6 year warranty.

I assume you got the MIC and other plastic / molded parts coated as well? Any issues how did that come out?

It came out great. They didn't do the rock rails or steps. I hesitated about the MIC top, but they said they'd done them before.

I asked to see the SDS for the coating they used so I could see what solvents were in it.

That’s my fear as well, I have a few places around I want to check out but they need to have done it before…..the top and plastics just mark up so easy and I assume they will fade just as easy. No garage for me so it’s out in the elements

Ceramic is more a very labor intensive cleaning/polishing process. First a thorough wash and removing all bug, tar, etc. Then clay bar. Then orbital buff/polish with high grade polisher compound. Then finish up with a super good wax and polish. I have done it before- it's a process.
All of those steps are necessary with a good wax job too. If you want to do a proper job

So the consensus amongst the group is that ceramic coating whether done by the individual or professional is something you would recommend? I got a quote for 1150 from a local guy. Mine is almost 3 years old and I did all the paint correction, claybar, wheel, etc but never did ceramic. I just need a shove over the edge to have it professionally done. I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Edit: updated price from 1300 to 1150 (after I re-read his email)

If it's from a reputable place and you don't mind shelling out that kind of cash it's worth it. Paint will look newer longer. I got mine done a week or two after I bought it. It's gotten mud, sand, snow and dirty water from off-roading and after I wash it the paint still pops and looks brand new (except for small dings and trail rash).

Thank you! That's the push I needed. Now scheduling 3 days without the bronco is up next!

Interested in what the cost was for those who had it done by a professional.
I had my wife's Agate Black Explorer professionally ceramic coated as soon as we took delivery of it. The local shop offers good, better, best treatment levels. I think all include paint correction. The "better" level comes with a four year warranty while the "best" level comes with a 10 year warranty. She never keeps vehicles more than four years so we chose the "better" level and could not be happier. We ALWAYS use the touch free car wash which does a good job but nothing beats a handwash. Hand washing gives it a show room shine and the water beads up and runs off and bird crap rinses right off. Total cost was $1,900. He also will inspect it once each year and fix any problems. For a guy that hates to wax, it was well worth the investment.

My Bronco is Oxford White and I'm not convinced ceramic coating would do much to improve the appearance.

To be honest, you’ve already done the hard parts. Applying coating is the easy part. Personally I’d save 1150 bucks and buy a quality coating and apply it yourself.

I just use Griots 3 in 1 ceramic spray a few times a year on entire surface. I use their synthetic clay bar once a year first. Nothing sticks to it. Cleans easily and very shiny. Cheap and easy too.

My daily is a 2020 Mustang that just hit 115k miles. A month ago it was looking like it had 115k miles so I went over it with a Dr Colorchip kit for touch up, clay bar'd the entire car, then ceramic coated it in my garage. It now looks like it has 5k miles.

Unlike these other guys I spent 4 hours and about $40.

You don't need to spend $1300. Just a Saturday morning and $40 and you should be good to go.

No I didnt polish it. No I didn't "paint correct" it. Why? Its a 115k mile Ford I drive every day. Its not a $500k Kendigit custom car with one off parts. Its a Ford.

And you know what? Put it next to any of your $1300 ceramic coat jobs and I bet it looks just as good.

It’s not really about the shine - it’s about making it easier to clean later on

True! But a freshly coated car looks damn good too.
