Confirmed! 2 door roof rack fits on 4 door

Based on this post I thought I could buy an OEM rack from a 4-door and install it on my 2-door. That is not the case. The front to back dimensions are ok. But the side to side dimensions at the rear crossbar do not work. See photo. The rear cross bar from a 4 door is about 3/8” too wide for a 2-door. I suspect the 4-door MIC is 3/8” wider at the forward clamp/mount point as compared to the clamp/mount point on the 2-door.

I overcame this issue by elongating the holes in the rear crossbar. Now it fits!

Chiming in here with what I learned installing a 2 door rack on my 4 door. As stated above, 2 door and 4 door are nearly identical except the rear cross bar length. The 2 door's is shorter. @flattops photo shows a 4 door rack onto a 2 door. Here is what a 2 door rack looks like on a 4 door. Not as ideal, but still managed to get it to work (if slightly compromised..)

never removed that or changed it or had issues with that. the adjustment was on the hinges.

I put a 4 door rack on my two door and had a similar experience.
It worked best to install the rack without the rearmost crossbar and then mark/eyeball the needed space for the slots in the crossbar to be extended.
I extended the slots and drilled another hole in the top of the crossbar so that I could reach the inner bolt. Everything seems to have gone in perfectly.
Worth mentioning is the fact that I didn't have the triangular tool for the rear brackets, but a 7mm socket was sufficient to tighten the clamps.
