The Bronco/Ranger chassis/frame is made from 3 separate sections. Front, middle, and rear. This allows the frame to be shortened or lengthened depending on the application. It also aids in repairs should it ever be wrecked. It's not quite that simple but that is the jist of it.

There has to be some major differences in the rear of the frame as Bronco has a 5-link and ranger is on leaf springs. Would make sense that the next gen ranger also goes to 5-link so both vehicles uses the same frame. BUT a ranger with a 5-link could reduce its towing capacity.

Maybe in the future. GEN3 Raptor switched to 5-link as leaf was holding it back.

The upcoming Ranger won’t have a 5 link. While the platforms are the same the frames have variances. As stated above they assemble the frame in sections, the center and rear sections being different in the Bronco.

It's not uncommon for two separate vehicles to use the same "platform". "Platforms" are designed to be somewhat modular. They can be scaled wider or narrower. Longer or shorter. Use different pickup points for mounting suspension, body mounts, etc. So the Bronco isn't being built on the Ranger's frame, per se, but the same basic design of the Ranger's frame.

So is chasis not changing? Same for Bronco, current and next-gen Ranger?
The chassis will change on the Ranger for MY23. It's not uncommon for two generations of vehicle/platform to exist at the same time. Jeep was making JK and JL Wranglers a few years back until they could get the JL up to speed. Volkswagen continued the Mk1 Golf/Rabbit convertible for another eight years under the Cabriolet name, even though the Golf was now on the Mk2 platform. It happens.

Whoa! Dial it back on the actual information... this is an internet forum. Not the place for that kinda talk.

BMW builds different platforms of the 3-series when it switches model generations in the same Dingolfing factory in Munich.

You see..... There is something you've failed to take into consideration. Time. And as we all know, time is relative. When it comes to vehicle manufacturing, seldom does time align the sun, moons and planets to form the holy trinity at exactly the same moment.

Product lead times are 4-5 years and that usually only triggers the year before a mid-model-refresh It might have taken Bronco a decade to get green-lighted, and in the meantime Ranger brought over from world-market in a quarter of that time.

Sometimes things just don't line up perfectly. There's nothing wrong with there being two different frames going down the line with their respective model.

Don't forget, it costs well over a billion dollars to develop a new vehicle chassis these days, they are designed to accommodate the models in their development cycle, so eventually Ranger and Bronco frame will align, but it won't be with a world-market Ranger hanging onto a 9 year old chassis side by side with the brand new Bronco.

The world Ranger chassis was just seed money to get the new platform developed.

The Ranger never sucked in 1st-gen form, but still Ford had a tough time bringing it back.

2 unique body shops. Common paint, trim and chassis lines. Adds complexity but has been done many times before.
Remember, Flat Rock Assembly use to build the Mustang, and the Mazda 6 at the same time. Again, 2 weld shops, common paint and assembly.

You may need to wait for the bronco pickup to get a manual in a pickup.
So for trucks, you think Ford will have

F-450 (6 trim lines - 3 cab options)
F-350 (6 trim lines - 3 cab options)
F-250 (6 trim lines - 3 cab options)
F-150 (6 trim lines - 3 cab options)
F-150 Lighting
F-150 Raptor
Ranger (3 trim lines - 2 cab options)
Ranger Raptor (????)
Maverick

And add in

Bronco Truck

Maverick is on the Escape/BS platform. Not body on frame.
