Hey Bronco Family,

Looks like I secured a 2023 Wildtrak! Super excited!

It is brand new, has 15 miles on it. I have to pick it up about 1k miles away.

Is there anything I need to do with making sure I break it in safely when I do the highway drive of 1k miles?

I don’t want to stress it or cause any unnecessary damage with highway speeds.

After the drive back home, do I need to go get an oil change/anything else?

Thanks!

You should be able to do 1-2K miles before getting that first oil change, so I would say plan on changing it after you return, but I wouldn't stress about it on the way back.

No problem with highway driving? Do I need to take it easy in terms of RPM or anything?

maybe stop driving every few hours for an hour or so?

The theory is you aren't supposed to drive on the highway to break it in as the rpms are always the same and maybe that would wear the piston/cylinders in weird. I don't know, I've had to do it a number of times but not like I owned those vehicles forever. You aren't supposed to go super high rpms either, but again, everyone has a different opinion.

In regards to Broncos, what I've generally gathered is to keep that RPM under 4000 and to take somewhat easy but seriously, don't stress over it. Drive it how you would any other vehicle and enjoy the ride.

Called a bunch of dealers in my home state, MI, etc. All the service advisors said 2023 no break in, enjoy.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just don't drive above 35mph for the first 500miles and above 45mph for the next 500. Should be all good after that.

OP better look up all the trails and logging roads between there and home. That'll break'er in good!!!

Cars aren't built like they used to be, they're far more engineered. Taking it easy in the break in period can't hurt, but it isn't as crucial as it was decades ago. Just take it easy for the first many hundreds of miles and don't drive very fast, but don't stress if you need to get the revs up a bit to merge safely or something.

April Fools? This isn't 4/1. Drive 35 on a freeway and you will get a ticket. 55-65 is just fine for 500. I wouldn't hit the speed limiter 101 until at least 1000 miles in.

And if you can the blue roads would be best .

You can do your first oil change whenever you want, even up to 5000 miles or so. Seriously. The Bronco like many other new cars knows when it wants changed and will tell you so. 32k in over 18 months with only 3 oil changes to date.

But, do use full synthetic or at leat a good blend that uses Schaffer Oil raw stock or their branded oil.

Just drive it. Also you don't NEED to change the oil until the truck tells you too. Lots of folks wasting money in extra oil changes that really aren't needed.

But, it's your truck and your
money, so whatever makes you happy
