DIY Painting OEM Trail Armor

I’m playing around with some design ideas but I’m very new to the DIY modification game. Does anyone have any tips for the method and kinds of paint to use if I wanted to change the color of the OEM trail armor pieces (pics below).

I’ll have to mock it up to see if it looks goofy in practice but the idea is to paint these pieces white to accent my race red build.

Scuff really well, use adhesion promoter and epoxy primer.
then go on top of that once it has flashed off well (not wet but still semi-sticky) with color of choice.
