Does anyone know what this little red light device is for? When I wear hiking boots, it sometimes interferes when I'm working the pedals.

Maybe an alarm system? Ford installed mine but they say all the adjustment controls are behind the glove box.

It definitely doesn't look like there was an attempt to hide it, its pretty obvious.

Here's one for ya: Back in '95 I learned to drive a stick on an '82 Ford F-250 with granny gears and a very stiff clutch. You had to push the clutch in about a foot and a half (J-shaped) and my mother had to stand on it for it to go down, it was so stiff. It would also spin third gear, so going into third was always an adventure. Six inch lift, '81 Ford Ranger cab, straight six Mustang engine, homemade cattle killer bumpers and roll bar. Really a beast, wish I still had a photo of it. My dad just came home with it one day...

It was so different that when I tried to drive a couple mid-90's Rangers with a stick, I literally couldn't. One of those was in mountainous Seattle area, and one time I rolled into a car at a red light. I had never learned to drive a soft clutch (eventually I did and have had three manuals, including a Jeep).

That would be funny, if I would've taken that in. I got it inspected and the guy just took my word for it. It was sort've it's own defeat device.
Haha, that is pretty close to how I learned. I worked at a full service gas station during high school a long, long time ago. I knew how to drive an automatic, but didn't know how to drive a stick. One night the manager asked me to park the tow truck in the garage. I got into the cab and realized it was a stick and told him I didn't know how to drive one. His response was, "you're gonna learn tonight".

Like your experience it also had a deep granny gear, and the engine was so strong it was pretty much impossible to stall. I had some very herky-jerky clutch engagements, but I learned the basics that night (enough to get it in the garage without crashing), and I kept practicing on the tow truck until I was decent with a clutch.

The first car I bought with my own money was an OG Acura Integra and have never owned a car without a 3rd pedal on the floor. I wouldn't even own a Bronco if it didn't come with a manual. As much as I love my Bronco, if someone told me I had to give up my manual and replace it with an automatic, I wouldn't keep the Bronco.

I would replace it with an 1980s FJ60 Land Cruiser. In fact there is one on BaT right now that I have my eye on... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1984-toyota-land-cruiser-fj60-130/
