I’m having an issue with my front doors locking while the vehicle is in idle and the fob is inside. Idle can mean in park with the engine running, or in drive, but brake applied.

If my husband gets out to open a gate, or pump gas, it locks him out and I have to hit the unlock button so he can open the door. This happens when he is a passenger or when he is driving. It’s my Bronco, and it’s never happened to me before, but I usually have the fob on me, not in the Bronco when I’m opening the door. I’m worried about getting locked out while the vehicle is running, or while the fob is inside.

I’ve checked the settings and nothing is relevant to this issue. Anyone else having this problem? Is this a software problem that can be fixed at the dealership? I have an automatic if that makes a difference. I noticed a few manual Broncos were having a different locking issue.

This has recently started happening to my 2023 BD 4D. Strange.

How is he shutting the door? If by the handle, maybe he is bumping the sensor area causing it to lock?

I've had this issue for a while now. It only seems to lock the drivers door though. The other doors are always still unlocked.

The good news is that with a 4-door soft top, you can stick your hand into the top right above the door and unlock it that way (it may take a stick to reach the button). That may keep you from worrying about whether or not you have a fob in your pocket.

My son, who is 6 ft 1, somehow manages to lock my doors while driving by hitting the lock button with his knee.

I’m paranoid of locking myself out of any running car with keys inside. I always roll drivers window down enough to reach in if I have to.

Hi Chuck! I can look into your Bronco's lock concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Bronco's VIN?
