I was hanging a mirror hang tag that I need for my employee parking lot access and noticed exposed wires behind the rear view mirror. As I looked at what they were for, they go from the back of the mirror to the interior of a braided wire sleeve and from there to the roof.

Should this braided sleeve be secure to the back of the mirror so that I don't see those wires? Should it just be longer (since the wires look to be in a punch block behind the mirror)?

Common on more than just the bronco. Non issue. The sleeve around the wires can move away a bit. I’ve seen this on many vehicles. I use that connection adding the radar detector in vehicles. There is a mirror tap wire that you take the power and ground to push into this connector for power.
