So I have a big Bronco and a Sport (wife's ride), and I've owned F150sHave a F150 and Bronco sport and was thinking of keeping the sport instead of the f150.
The main Bronco vs Sport - very different vehicles.
The Sport is a consumer, on road drive. It has much better fit and finish, it's a much smoother experience. Sure, it has some off road GOAT modes, but it's very much the same vein as the Escape / Edge / Explorer.
It can go down dirt roads, it can tackle some trails - but so can an Explorer. It is really the direct descendant of the older first/second gen Ford Escape, and more like a mini-Explorer or quirky Edge than anything. It definitely feels and acts bigger than the current gen Escape it's based on. The Sport compares very well to the Subaru lineup, or the Rav4 - vehicles along those lines.
Big Bronco - nothing at all to compare it to in the Ford lineup, completely different animal. It's direct comparison is the Jeep Wrangler or FJ, or the older Hummers. It's an offroader first, and everything else comes second, with very few compromises to capability.
Interior - with respect to room, the Sport and Bronco are pretty close - both are smaller vehicles. Uou'll notice the Sport a bit narrower and smaller, but it isn't hugely so - unlike the difference in the F150 to either of these. Both Broncos the back seat is more a well intentioned thought than an actual functional back seat. The interior quality and fitment on the Sport, if you are just looking at similar trim packages, is on par with the F150. The F150 has a lot more options and upscale trim packages, so I'd have to give the nod to the F150 if you are willing to spend on it. The interior is probably the biggest drawback of the big Bronco - it's not all that great... the Sport and F150 are both notably better on the interior than the Bronco. The Bronco is very utilitarian, a lot of cheap and plain plastic that is easy to damage, and very much function over form.
Even with the smaller 3-cylinder, the Sport doesn't feel underpowered - it's quite perky and nimble. You won't mistake it for a sports car, or a diesel hauler, but it's fun to drive. My big Bronco definitely has more pep in it's step, but that isn't a put down to the Sport. Both feel vastly more nimble, agile, and quicker than the F150 - the F150 feels like I'm driving an Abrams Tank down the road in comparison.
I have a lot more fun driving either Bronco, but you can definitely stretch your legs out in the F150, even if you are in the back seat, and there's something to be said for that. All 3 are very much different vehicles.
