How many of the pages on FB that are selling parts are just pure scams? Are there any that are legit and good places to get together with other owners and swap gear or get good deals? I've removed myself from one group already, but this guy (Daniel Mawson) has a real (looking) profile and a lot of really nice stuff I'd love to pick up. Is it real or just another Nigerian Prince?

Join a local Bronco group. There has to be a few in NM. Those groups will have options to sell/swap parts. Do NOT trust the numerous FB "Parts" profiles/groups. The profiles are all scams. The groups are at least comprised of individuals. Their listings should still not be trusted so take precautions to meet in person. If you feel compelled to engage in a transaction long distance requiring shipping, then protect yourself using online payment with buyer protection.

I use Facebook like Craigslist - deal only in first-person cash transactions. Getting anything shipped is asking for trouble and you have little recourse.
It can be. I've had ok success with it. Whatever you do, use a good payment method, for buying or selling.
Don't use Cashapp or something else that has no way of filing a dispute.
I prefer paypal - not the family friends option, but the one that costs 3% or whatever.
I've paid for a few things & had them shipped & also sold a few things that way.

I messaged him for 4dr tube doors for $500 shipped to my door. I then asked about a soft top and negotiated it to $350 shipped to my door. Seems crazy but I continued the conversation. When we spoke he wanted only venmo or cash app. He was calling me from a NY number but saying he was in Texas and not only was his English poor but connecting terrible. I told him paypal G&S + fees and he told me they couldn't do it that day for some weird reason and he would call me back. 3 days later he called back and I ignored it. If you look at all the positive reviews he has they seem like they're all for local installs and most.are.from nee accounts. Posting a positive reviews the same day as they join the group. Very weird interaction, but there hasn't been anybody who talked bad about em yet. The money's too hard to come by to take a chance on a thousand dollars.

With all that said if it was one thing, even two things, I would chalk it up to just weird but a combination of everything together is just not worth my time

I was dealing with what was supposed to be a classic car junk yard and I had several needs hoping he might have one out of 3 or so. It took him a few minutes to get back to me and He supposedly had all the parts and showed pictures which was suspicious. So I did what he had probably done and googled what I was looking for and found the same pictures in separate locations on the internet (eBay etc). He was in a hurry for me to Venmo or Zelle the money because he was supposedly heading to UPS that afternoon and wanted to get my parts shipped. 99.9% sure I was being scammed so I cut off communication with the seller.

I’m embarrassed to say that I was nearly scammed by one if these group admins. I fell for the bogus “reviews” that were posted in the group. If they don’t accept payment that offers buyer’s protection, stay away.
