Ford posted the fastest way to a delivery. So I reserved a plain jane Big Bend 4 door with a soft top. Almost no accessories. That was 8/12, a month ago. My dealership just called me to say that I've already got a vin. He was as surprised as I am.

I would say the fast track really is.

Was it a smaller dealership who maybe didn't fill all their allocations? Or a prior reservation that a customer backed out of, and they simply changed the build on for your specs?

Or it's fake news.

AFAIK and from my experience the only limitations are the hard top and your dealer’s available allocations.

On September 1st I switched a BL/MIC/Tow/High/2.3/7MT/MGV to a soft top and got a VIN the next day.

No date yet, just a vin. Still. Wish it was like that with the 2 door Badlands I ordered in May.

Sounds about right. I was told 6-8 weeks on a basic Big Bend 4 door soft top. I ordered on 9/6.

Interesting. My dealer told me I was the only order at their dealership (19 reservations, but only my order). I wonder if they will be able to get it as quick as they said they would.

Do you know where you were in line in your dealer's allocations?

I take it you had a reservation though? I changed mine to a base-squatch with 2.7 and got a build-date and VIN 2 days later. The only thing that is holding back orders now must be the MIC top.

Will do. No high hopes. Just really surprised to have a vin a month after my initial reservation.

From what I was originally told at time of my Feb 3 order placement, the dealer had 70ish reservations, 40ish orders, and the original allocation was 14. I was not in the first 14 but I was on the cusp. The orders ahead of me were mostly FEs and WTs, and I was the only 2.3/7MT BL.

I am not sure what happened since that time, and in Canada we get very little visibility into the order/priority process.

<edit> the dealer has only delivered 2 units as of this time of writing.

Fastest way is calling dealerships to find abandoned orders...but its not the cheapest option sometimes
