Think of how you intend to use it and add/modify to make it better for that. Body protection and recovery aids are always a safe choice.

The first thing I did was change out the hard top bolts for tie downs. I use them all the time now.
Came write basically this.
Start using it and make a list of things you'd like improved. Go from there.

I've seen several people now with the Redline hood struts. Is there reason to have the hood open enough to warrant replacing the struts? On a new vehicle, I don't see myself doing more than filling the washer fluid and potentially oil changes if I'm doing them myself. My wrangler has no struts and it's never caused me to wish it did.
Struts were added, not replaced. The biggest reason for me installing is that the hood prop rod always seems to be in the way when trying to access the engine bay.

First thing I did was install a dozen KC Cyclone rock lights. They are $30 each and you don't need the harnesses, it isn't too tough to do it yourself.

It was a great project to learn about wiring a car and how car electrical systems work. I did have to buy some tools but nothing crazy.

Next project is going to be figuring out interior lighting.

First mod ever:

1985 Z28 - smaller pulley and changed out a microchip for better performance. I think it knocked my quarter mile time like half a second.

On the Bronco. Vintage script, sticker removal, new oil pan plug, just basic stuff for now...

Never "modified" a vehicle in my life. Have taken my BL Sas off road a couple of times now and excited to do something to it just to get my feet wet. Thinking about something simple to get started. Lighting in the bumper seems logical and easy but also looking at compressor in the engine bay. Anyone remember back to what they did for their first trip into the modification world?
Great start for ideas. My first was lighting in the bumper. It looked empty. I did side steps to get in back. 2 door. Lastly I bought a portable air compressor. Under hood would be best and saves space.

Have spent way too much on a vehicle I’m just going to use to take the family to the beach. $500 hammock mount. $900 CO2 tank to inflate SUPs and a sailboat. $3k for wheels and tires. Probably all should have gone to a college fund.

I had a '85 IROC project car for quite a while in the 90's. Some Navy kid saw it at a local car show when I just pulled up to take my then young son to look at the cars. By then that 305 had been replaced by a roller 350, then a roller 406, the 700R4 was swapped to a T5 (the first of three - God I hate T5s). Swapped in 4th gen F-Body seats, upgraded suspension etc. He asked if it was for sale, I told how much I'd take and to my surprise he showed up the next weekend with cash and a trailer.

For me personally, I always upgrade the stereo system. Amps, speakers, subwoofer.
After that, just things when I think I'm ready for them or need them. I bought a ton of recovery gear, PPF, ceramic tint on the windows, and just quality of life stuff.
Might do the side steps at some point so the kids can get in and out easier, but it's not a huge deal as we usually take the minivan unless we're heading somewhere that calls for the Bronco.

Interesting. Why are you accessing the engine bay?

Checking fluids, wiring auxiliary switches, wiring lights, upgrades/modifications, visually checking everything is in order and so on
