Want to Flat Tow 2026 behind motorhome.
Dealer said to download user manual from Ford website.
2026 downloaded UM from Ford indicates we must pull the EBB fuses under the hood.
See attached pages from UM.
This is crazy. I was thinking about adding a fuse disconnect, but the fuses are 60A so not going to work.
I know there was a software update that was to fix this issue, but Ford is still legally requiring us to remove fuses.
Anyone else dealing with this?

That's what I've been doing since Ford says to do it. They should be able to fix this with software but I guess that's beyond their ability.

I do it with my 25. It's just part of my checklist, not really an issue for me. Takes less than a minute. I keep extra fuses just in case one disappears. Have had zero issues flat towing.

Thanks for quick reply.
Concerned that the fuse holder was not made to be used so many times.
I could see doing this a 100 times a year.

I assume Ford fixed this with the software update that disables EBB in flat tow mode, but they kept the fuse removal requirement for legal protection.

I wouldn't want to pull fuses either. The 2024 manual has not been updated to require it though. I will keep doing what Im doing. Over 5K miles towed so far with no problems.

I still suspect the problem was due to not adding a 12V charge line and the braking system running down the Bronco battery.

If mine required it, I guess I would look at breaking into the wiring and installing a couple big cutoff switches. Like maybe a couple of these. It would be a pain to find a place to mount them.

We just got back from a 5000 mile trip towing our 2023 with no problem at all. My manual does not mention pulling fuses, so I don't. I even checked with the Ford rep. I do have a 12 volt line run from the motorhome to the Bronco and I monitor it with a WIFI system that lets me know the voltage of the Bronco battery real time.

The only problem I have is the 12 volt system is wired in the the Aux side of the ignition switch and when I shut down it powers up all the aux thing in the RV. I need to rewire that.

I’ve towed our ‘25 Badlands on a 400 mile trip and had no issues. I put thousands of miles on our ‘23 Outer Banks after a ”catastrophic transmission“ failure. The transmission was replaced under warranty and even with a new charge line installed, I would still get the “check brakes” warning. So far, I haven’t received that warning on our ‘25 and we haven’t pulled any fuses.

It seems the new EBB was added sometime in 2025, so it depends on the VIN. The earlier models seem to only need the 12V charge line.

Contacted Ford Corp via chat regarding the fuse pull problem. Indeed, the EBB was added in 2025, so 2024 and older do not require fuses to be pulled for flat towing. I use Air Force One for braking and the preferred place to install is on top of fuse box. So I would need to find another location for the AFO unit.

Here is Ford Corp response:
"You are completely correct, and your frustration is entirely justified. If you are transitioning from a Jeep, discovering that a brand-new 2026 Bronco requires you to pop the hood, wait for the vehicle to go to sleep, and pull two massive fuses can be demotivating."

Also, regarding the differences between the PDF and HTML versions of the Bronco user manual, here is corp response:
"The discrepancy between the PDF manual you originally read and the updated HTML manual is a known point of contention in the RV and Bronco communities."

I was impressed that I could contact someone so easily and have someone who understood the problem. Hopefully, the engineers at Ford can confirm the software fix and drop the fuse pulling requirement.

Is this something that needs to be done on all models? What does EBB mean? I thought that as long as you keep the battery charged it is not an issue. I haven't flat towed yet but I thought I did everything I needed to do to do it, but it didn't think I had to do this.

EBB stands for Electronic Brake Boost as opposed to vacuum assist brake boost.
This caused lots of problems for us with the 2..7 V6. There are lots of threads about this.
I have a 2021 OBX 2.7 V6 that I tow, I do not remove the fuses.

I also have a 2.7. How did you mitigate the issue without pulling fuses? I am planning on using a RVI Brake 3 that I had from my Rubicon.

Thanks for the feedback, I think this is only an issue with the 2.7 unless Ford is now using Electric Brake booster on all engines.
We ended up changing our order from the 2.7 to the 2.3 based on all the issues people were having with flat towing.
Ironically we ended up getting a 2025 Maverick hybrid as a second vehicle and have that set up to tow instead of our 22 Bronco.

In 2025 the 4-cyl Broncos got electronic brake booster also. My 2024 doesn’t so I don’t pull any fuses.
There were a couple members here with V6 Broncos who had their brakes lock up during towing even with a charge line.
