FORScan vs Flashcal+

Neither is an official Ford product.

Forscan lets you fiddle with most anything in the car's computer that can be changed, but requires a lot of deep knowledge and manipulating computer encoded settings. Requires a significant amount of computer knowledge, but it's much cheaper.

Flashcal+ is a product that puts a nice easy to use interface on what Forscan does, but relies on the company that makes it to support the setting you want to change. It is expensive, and I've been watching the company's thread on it and their support for Bronco's is still buggy (though to their credit it looks like they are trying hard to get it all working).

Neither is recommended if you aren't willing to deal with technical problems, which happen with both.

Even though the 2 month license is free, I have no problem buying a $20 year-long license to support the FORScan project to keep the devs motivated to continue to support it.

I didn't know it stopped - I'm changing the low pressure alarm setting to 28 today, I'll report back.

That hasn’t worked for a long time now, at least not for me.
I suppose it could depend on which version you have though.

I haven't tried on mine, but I think newer versions of Windows don't like having the date rolled back.

Yeah my computer was never happy about it, but it still worked for forscan a while ago.

But even using the same computer I always have, forscan won’t allow it anymore. It pops up with a message as soon as I open it

Tried the date change today. Showed that the license and hardware didn't match (no actual changes) so no dice. I only need to change the tire pressure alarm so I'll have the dealer do it with the recall.

Long story short, forescan is a computer program to change settings...Flashcal+ simply does the changes w/o the need for a computer. Forescan has many more options to access but fairly cumbersome for a newbie not familiar with the procedures for changing settings.. Flashcal+ super easy to use but only a select set of options to change. Forescan also requires a subscription to access the program.

FORScan doesn't have a subscription, there is an extended version that has access to some additional services function that most of us will never use.

The objectives of the Extended license:

1. Limit access to critical or dangerous functions.
2. Take payment for functions that are most time/resource consuming in impementation.

So in other words, if you are a FORScan user, you will have only 2 cases when you need the Extended license:

1. If you want to help to the FORScan project financially, as we have no donation.
2. If you need an access to a function that is available under Extended license. If it is your case, please do not try to inquire for Extended License unless you see the following message:

Dealer can’t change anything related to tire pressure, unless one of their techs has forscan.
