What about the "shuttered grilles"? Are those mechanical or electrically operated?

Either way, I wonder if it is the same shutter bank that is used on all of the grilles.

I thought the shuttered ones were the ones with six openings that were originally only shown on the OB, WT and FE

The bumpers are still metal (usually behind plastic and foam). I believe trucks have different rules than cars for that, but grilles have been plastic for years. Euro rules basically make you design the whole front to crumble for a cyclist.

Because they're technically not a part of the OEM bumper. They are after-sale accessories that are "off-road use only" and don't apply to pedestrian safety standards.

Why that stopped Ford with the doughnut doors, I don't know. Probably just another excuse to not offer it since it probably wasn't economically feasible.

They're all going to be plastic and interchangeable. Whether you'll be able to order the grill from a different trim I guess we'll find out later when placing our orders.

As soon as aftermarket comes out with a metal grill, and boy will they... I will be slapping one in. Rocks on the highway are going to tear the plastic ones up. Not to mention trail damage...

I have no idea if we'll be able to swap them at ordering time. I'd be almost certain they'll be able to be purchased thru the dealership parts counter as replacements at some point.

Crash standards don’t allow for metal grilles.

I don't think Ford has used metal grills in any vehicle for a long time.

Yes. They are clearly interchangeable. Even the lights swap out.

They’re all plastic. The Base is just unpainted plastic.

so would a badlands grill fit on a black diamond? also can you swap the nicer led headlights on lower trims?
