My AA doesn't work well either. I sure wish @fordmotorcompany would fix the numerous problems they are already aware of.

If plugged in AA is bad. It crashes 1/week, skips, stops, restarts, starts apps i didn't want it to start.

Now if I use AA wireless, all those things grew exponentially in frequency.

Use this phone in multiple non-ford vehicles and never a problem. Samsung s9+

Don't know what mix of things you have but I listen to AM while AA is "in control" with no issues. Ancient Pixel 2 XL running stock Android 11 paired to Badlands with High pkg.
So do I most of the time. Things get dicey if I want to leave phone music and go back to am. I guess I need to revisit the issue with my new S23.

AA has been pretty good here. Connected to a Microsoft Surface DUO 2.

Occasionally, there will be a short drop-out on the audio when streaming wireless. Not often though.

Adding apps is a bit weird, though.

Otherwise, has been working pretty good. Phone, music, a couple of apps ...

I use a Pixel 6 Pro and the only issue I've had is Google's built in VPN causing connection issues. Once I white listed the bronco I've had no issues with either wireless or connected AA.

I'm having issues making or receiving calls. I get no audio when the call connects. I end up having to switch to speaker then back to Bluetooth to get the audio back. Happened on both my Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy S20+ and on both my 22 OBX and 23 BL.

The phone is not completely paired with the Bronco. I had the same problem. I'd explain what it takes to fix it, but my wife fixed it while I was driving.

They're taking a much deserved break.
Been working overtime on the tailgate rattle for the last few years

If you ever figure this out, please let me know.
My first call, every time, has no sound on my end. People hear me bitching about how much sync sucks.
Reconnect and sound works.
But usually the map part of the screen is black.
Then I reconnect and everything works.
Pain in the ass for sure

Same problem for me. I have to call someone 3 times before phone audio comes through. I have a galaxy 21 ultra.

Hey there. I can look into your Bronco’s Android Auto concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?
Seriously? Mine is a dud.
1. Takes forever to get going when I hook it up.
2. Stops working when it feels like it. (Maps still run on the phone, but stop on the vehicle display.)
3. Buttons freeze.
Honestly, it's a POS.
Sending mine too. Please do something about it if you can. It's embarrassing.

i've only had the Bronco a couple of weeks, but so far wireless android auto and my pixel 7 pro have been seamless, not a single issue. here's hoping it stays that way! over the years it seems like google has broke AA more than a few times

After using Sync4/AA I can confidently conclude that Ford's AA implementation is one hot mess. The problem seems to be on the Sync4 side since restarting the head unit invariably resolves the issues, and none of these issues are present on my wife's GLC300.

A few observations:
  1. As long as you use only the basic functionality (maps and possibly Spotify) things are relatively stable, with no/few freezes.
  2. The moment you touch ANYTHING else in AA something will start freezing on you. Open WhatsApp? Can't exit the screen. Try to read a text message? Ditto
  3. Why does going back to Sync4 take 3 clicks? This is ridiculous, there should be a Ford Sync icon on the bottom row at all times
  4. And the loveliest of all the bugs I have found so far
    1. Start in AA
    2. Start playing music on Spotify
    3. Exit back to Ford Sync
    4. Start playing a radio station
    5. Press voice control to issue a voice command... and observe Spotify playing at full volume, drowning out your voice and precluding voice interactions with Sync4

Huge disappointment, will disable BT temporarily and interact with Sync4 only over the USBC connection and see if it gets any better.

Nope, I don't need Ford Customer Service to reach out to me asking me to go to a dealership. There is nothing the dealer can do to fix the bugs, this is in Ford's lap until they fix it OTA.

I've been experiencing pretty much every glitch that's been listed on this thread.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the direct WiFi connection between the phone and head unit. I don't need a wireless hotspot.
I disabled the WiFi connection between the two in the settings on the head unit and most of the time it works just fine now but I have to keep the phone plugged in via USB which is okay since I like to have it charging while driving anyway.

Is anyone else experiencing freezes and glitches with Android Auto?

Seeing three types of issues at various times

  1. Laggy display. The audio directions are fine and up to date but the in vehicle display is laggy. It shows the turn after you have already made it and remains frozen there till the next turn
  2. The on screen buttons at the bottom are often unresponsive. The buttons on the map itself respond, I can zoom and move around the map. But the functions at the bottom don't respond - split screen, map, Spotify, phone, settings
  3. The map itself becomes unresponsive. Can't zoom, pan, etc.
No issues like that in my wife's vehicle so I don't think it is my phone. On the other hand I drove a Dodge Charger rental with a wired Android Auto over the weekend and it behaved similarly.
Sometimes mine doesn't load at all and when I try to manually connect, the android auto option doesn't even exist on the screen. Just the bluetooth. I have to completely shut the truck off and restart it to get it to load.
