Wired android auto seemed finicky as hell. I think that was a worn cable combined with a dated phone. I have a moto G7 power with android 10.

Does wireless android auto work? How do you initiate it?

No first hand knowledge yet but did find this on in the manual.

I'm using an S9 and it works fine for me, main complaint is fairly high battery usage on the phone and it gets a bit warm (related issue, lol).

Good to know. Does it get warm as well plugged it as well or just during wireless usage?

I played with wireless Android auto while at the off-roadeo and it worked great. The drain on my phone was pretty bad even when I wasn't doing anything. I didn't bring a cable with me so I couldn't test that. Samsung S21 ultra

Haven't plugged it in, but that might work since I know my phone gets quite warm when I used it as a mobile AP in the past, it's quite likely that wireless android auto uses wifi.

I had so many problems with android auto that I just switched to the new iPhone. Car Play is SO MUCH better. AA would constantly disconnect, tell me in the middle of a drive that my usb wasn't working, etc. It was driving me nuts. I had a Samsung 10s, so not a super old phone.

I'm hoping my S8 Active lasts a long time. My 3rd Active phone, but they don't make them anymore. :(

Haven't had a single disconnect with my S9, and Apple can go die in a fire so.... :)

I use a Pixel 4a 5G with AA, it's fairly buggy but my daughter's iPhone with carplay isn't much better. My biggest complaint is not being able to get out of AA without force stopping it on my phone.

You should be able to select "Ford Sync" from the AA dashboard and that brings you back out of AA.
