I did not find a thread specific to this topic. I want to lift my hard top without going through the back glass. For the back, I fabricated theses lifting attachments. For the front, I will squeeze some webbing around the bracket that bolts the top to the "B" pillar bracket. Any suggestions or worries? (I have not yet removed my top)

Hmm not sure I would trust the strength of the hard top there. But interested to see what anyone else thinks and or if you have success with it.

I would not use those brackets to lift my top..
How about getting some soft straps and basket rig the top. Put straps underneath and up and around to lifting hook

Seems like a viable lifting point. I would assume the roof is reinforced in that spot.

I will for certain use straps and a basket rig to support the top once lifted. I need a method to lift the top in order to place the secondary rigging. With my Jeep, I was always worried about damaging the rubber seal for the back glass.

Here is a few pics that might help- ( 2 door )
The balance point is about 17" forward of the back glass. Watch when lifting straight up as the MIC rear mounting flange is about the same width as the roll bar ( marked in red ).
The other pic is the Roof Rack clamp for reference. There is not much of a gripping point.
My opinion- the notch in the MIC is weak and maybe that is why the Roof Rack only has a 150# rating.

I plan on rigging from side to side with one up front and one in the back with the glass down. . I will test it out this week and let you know.. I bought (2) 12 foot x 2 inch flat straps..( I know over kill But it was the beast deal) and have a overhead electric winch in my hobby shop to hoist it

I was just thinking of something very similar last night. My thought was to connect the two rack attachments together on aluminum t slot. That would allow them to slide and lock in place with a set screw and then lift from the center of the t slot bar. I’m just not sure I trust the strength of the hardtop.

My little brackets work perfectly. I use a short webbing basket on the front metal brackets (the ones that bolt the hard top to the roll bar. Once lifted with my handy-dandy Harbor Freight winch, I use 4 ratchet straps for insurance. Very quick and very secure.
