“Hill start assist has detected a failure” on the Ford Pass app last night. It says to take it in to the dealer. No message on the dash of the Bronco when I drove it this morning. My Bronco only has 600 miles on it. Arrgh!

Update: The message no longer appears on the app. Huh.

I plan to disable Hill Start Assist, because why would I want it, I know how to drive a stick.

If parked/stopped on an incline, is manually flipping the parking brake switch, sufficient compared to a traditional hand brake, where you have full control to feather on/off?

It should be, the goofy electric parking Break auto disengages under forward movement.

Normally I would start the vehicle with my foot on the brake, release the clutch till it holds, then move my right foot to the gas. But... I've driven a stick by preference for 30 years.

I've had it multiple times, but for me it is always related to turning the Bronco off and not getting out, then restarting about 15 minutes later. E-break engages while sitting and is on when the Bronco starts, just turn it off an no issues. Has happened 4 or 5 times.
I have encountered this twice in 2 weeks doing exactly as you described. Sitting in my Bronco after cutting off for an extended time then restarting it, crazy.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s possible. If you know a way to disable it, please tell, but I don’t think it’s possible.

According to the Bronco owner's manual:

SWITCHING HILL STARTASSIST ON AND OFF -MANUAL TRANSMISSION
You can switch hill start assist on and off on the touchscreen:
1. Press Features on the touchscreen.
2. Press Driver Assistance.
3. Switch Hill Start Assist on or off

Newer Mustangs have this stupid thing, and it can be turned off. When I punch the clutch and no other pedals, a WANT the car to roll.

Wow! I've had it on every car I've owned for the last 20 years, and none ever allowed it to be deactivated. That's great. Thanks for clarifying. Porsche, Mini, BMW, and Subaru won't allow it to be deactivated.

That's exactly what happened to me. Got out to drop something off. Got back in, sat in it unstated for a bit reading a text novel. When I started it all hell broke lose.

Mine did this once and it showed up in the app so I did schedule an appointment to get it checked. My dealership called the day before to ask me specifics but it hadn’t given me any problems and no warnings except for that one time. She suggested to just keep an eye on it since they’d have to charge me out of pocket if they ran diagnostics and didn’t find anything. So I canceled the appointment and haven’t had any issues.

Mine has done it twice. I plan to bring it up when I go in for my first service. Hopefully it's something they can address with an OTA update.

It popped up on my rig two days ago - nothing else so far. I'll take it in once my warranty sheet gets big enough. :ROFLMAO:

This showed for me once I had the doors off. I just clear them all and release the ebrake and the bronco drives fine. I think the doors being off triggers something as I never got it prior to doors being off.
