hoss 3.0 rack programing issues

HELP!!!!

2022 Bronco Sas 2.7

Replace Hoss 1.0 rack out for Hoss 3.0, worked but had "Service Steering" light on, took it to Ford Dealer to get it looked at and they cant seem to reprogram it and now I don't have power steering now. does anyone know if there is a special file or procedure the dealer can do to marry the rack to the bronco?

Been looking into doing this and you are living my biggest concern with a DIY attempt.

For anyone to be of help you should include what software you used, was Procal involved, and was another VIN used.

The @BigMeatsBronco hack is to program it against a VIN that has HOSS 3.0, e.g. a WildTrak (22 with the option or a 23/24) or 2024 Badlands or 2024 Sas. The programming on the rack doesn't connect in or otherwise impact the Bronco's computer, so it shouldn't matter.

Having said that, not too sure about going HOSS 1.0 to 3.0, I think they're slightly different in width or something but that may not be a factor for the programming.

@mpeugeot if you're around as well, what do you think?

Did you just try and swap it thinking it would work without any programming?
It has to be done with forscan (unless you bought the FP version which can be done with the procal) A dealership likely wont do it or know how.

I thought the rack was programmed with FDRS?

Oh maybe it is, I don't remember. Never tried to do it. Either way expecting a dealership to figure it out probably wont go well considering it's not the right part for the vehicle lol

We'll definitely need to know whether the rack was bare or prepped for the ProCal install. If the ProCal's involved, contact FP. If not, yeah, they will need to find someone to program it for them, or figure that out themselves.

Yeah, I'm guessing it wasn't the FP one, or the dealership would likely be dealing with them directly and it wouldn't be an issue brought up on here.

yeah i would never installed it ,BUT my local dealer scad "no problem we can do it"
the other thing that sucks is before i could still drive it now the dealer says it has no power steering at all FML!!

Hopefully someone here is smarter then me or the dealer

Yeah, I'm guessing it wasn't the FP one, or the dealership would likely be dealing with them directly and it wouldn't be an issue brought up on here.

I want that new FP rack and it's on the mod menu for hopefully later this year. Can you share what your dealership charges for labor on the install?

I have a shop that I do trust, but they focus on Euro vehicles and the programming has me worried about just taking the rack to them to give a shot and install.

No, i was told by Ford dealer they could do it. But now I'm screwed and i cant even get the core back

We would just go by Alldata. So 6.5 hours for the rack and then an hour for the alignment.

Pretty sure there are members here that could see where this went sideways if you provide info on what software was attempted, etc per many of the questions here. There are people here that know this rack way better than most dealerships.

Its easy for me I already had to pull it out on the trail once. I did this one at my house about 2 hours
