How Many Watts for Power Inverter DC 12V to 110V AC Car Inverter?

I want to hook up my early 90s Panasonic RX-DT680 to my AUX port and plug it into my 12V outlet (it eats batteries like crazy).

How many watts do I need for the power inverter? Is 300W enough?

Also, does the power inverter have to be hooked up directly to the 12V outlet or can it be hooked up to a 12V splitter (like the blue one below)?

Your idea is to go from DC to AC to DC which is very inefficient and expensive.

According to the manual for that particular stereo, you should have a DC in jack on the back to run straight into the 12v. You only need a generic adapter that fits instead of the DC to AC to DC conversion discussed above.

I'll be honest, my laptop draws 220Watts and I have never been able to get a 12V power converter to work properly. Draw is too much.

Went through the manual but did not see a power specifications. Is there an amperage “stamping” at the AC plug-in on the back?

The 110V outlet is 400W per Ford Spec.

Yes, as one of the previous posters indicated, DC to DC is a lot simpler. Plug it in DC to DC, if it doesn’t blow the fuse in the vehicle, your good to go. If you don’t have to DC car cord you can probably buy one on eBay.

It states its 12V - 24V whereas all the other ones only stated 12V.
