Hi All,

I'm looking to add a half rack for my 24 Badlands and I have seen posts about both of these. Are there any positives/negatives to each (construction quality, noise, etc)? I'm leaning towards the JCR mostly because it is a bit cheaper and the Trailrax half rack is sold out unless I want to pax racks which i don't.

No experience with JCR. I'm very happy with my full length Trailrax and with their phone support. I suggest downloading and reading the installation instructions for each.

Thanks, the installation instructions for the half rack are pretty similar with minor variations

Sometimes, but not always, poor instructions mean a poor product. But, I have bought very good products with next to no instructions.

You could call each of them and see try to get an idea of their level of phone support. Other than that, not sure if there is much of a difference. Both are made in the US.

So I'm a happy Trail Rax full rack owner and have pretty much heard nothing but positive reviews from others with their stuff. Customer service from most everything I've seen and heard is top notch also if you have any issues (and I know they've been great through at least 3 orders I've done now getting some accessories, add on crossbars, etc.).

JCR in general is a bit cheaper and I think some folks have their full and half racks on this forum with no major issues.

I'm personally a bit skeptical of JCR stuff though as I had Victory 4x4 (their sister Toyota focused operation) Blitz sliders on my 4Runner. Went with them as they were an aluminum/steel hybrid design; crazy expensive (~$2000+ now; not as much when I got them a few years ago). Long story short, powder coat and design was great, but fitment was NOT good. The 4WD shop I used was able to ge them on fortunately, but one always stuck out about a half an inch further than the other. For what the stuff cost, I expect it to be perfect honestly. With so many decent fabricators out there and how much this stuff costs, I kind of figure one strike and you're out (go with someone else for a similar product if you have a bad experience).

I have the JCR full and half. I like the flexibility and the light bar mount up front. I run half rack most times unless I need the full rack. I don’t find the half rack to be noisy. No additional creaking or other noises, its very solid.
Powdercoating was flawless, hardware is stainless. I upgraded to black hardware recently.

It was a bit fiddly to install but is solid once installed. Converting to half or full rack is fairly easy and I just hang the front portion from the ceiling.

i think the Trailrax sides are likely a better design and JCR needs to include a few longer bolts for some of the assembly points. Directions were fine. Bolts while stainless do not take well to power tools. All allen head.

I did get a great deal on mine and run a few of their products now. With the right light bar it blends in for a sleek look.
I also have the side racks installed.

And then in half rack. I did not get the wind deflector for the half rack but don't really notice any noise without it.

If you get the Trailrax you always have the option of installing the side racks later if you decide you want them.

Thank you. That is helpful

I‘ve had good luck with both companies. I have the JCR front bumper and tailgate table for a couple years now. Have used the TrailRax full rack for a while and now have their half rack. I’d say go with the one you like best in regards to looks .
