...I changed the GOAT mode to SPORT and already had the auto-start button turned off. Went for a ride and stopped for lunch. I got back in, started the engine and the dash prompted me if I wanted to keep it in SPORT mode. I hit OK and noticed that the auto-start button was turned off. That saved me from turning it off like I have to do every time I start driving.
I'm going to go the other route. I don't mind auto-stop and start, but I really wish the Bronco would stay in the same on-road mode (Normal, Eco, Sport) as it was previously without having to confirm within 5 seconds (or at all). I get why the confirmation is good for the off-road modes.

And 4A does use the front under normal acceleration. Here’s mine from a few minutes ago and it’s clear and dry here in FL.

Does it remember your 2H/4A/4L/4H settings?
It still ask if you want to remain in a the chosen Goat mode if you are in any other than normal. I am pretty sure if you manually select 4a 4h 4l that it stays in. I will try it when I get home tomorrow.

I admit I'm a newbie. I've been enjoying the hours that I've been reading and learning here. Just like most everyone else I find the auto-start to be a nuisance. Sure, it's really not a big deal to hit the button once you get 'reminded' that it will die at the first stop light.

There is Forscan setting but I'm still not sure I like that option yet. Talking about the auto-start function setting only, I've made several changes to the other settings I wanted changed.

Somebody may have already made this comment/discovery but I've not seen it mentioned anywhere.

Well I said all of that to say this: I changed the GOAT mode to SPORT and already had the auto-start button turned off. Went for a ride and stopped for lunch. Got back in,started the engine and the dash prompted me if I wanted to keep it in SPORT mode. I hit OK and noticed that the auto-start button was turned off. That saved me from turning it off like I have to do every time I start driving.

I prefer to drive on the street in SPORT mode anyway. So now I just have to hit the OK button once it starts and I can forget about the auto-start button that I nearly always forget to turn off.

This may be common knowledge to all of y'all seasoned Bronco owners but I just never heard of this mentioned before.
I do the same thing in my 2029 Ranger Lariat and drive around in Sport most of the time unless we are cruising at good (legal) speeds on the freeway or highway. This only works if you like driving in Sport, which I do!

Yeah it engages all the time. Mine has a power distribution screen on the dash and the fronts light up to varying degrees as I accelerate. The power is always going back and forth. You can see it in real time.
And there’s nothing wrong with it engaging and distributing power all around all the time, when needed. Heck basically it’s what you get in Audi or Subaru - although those are FWD biased I believe.

Yeah, but you still have to hit a button!
Sideways hack?

I did FORScan and am quite pleased with not having to hit a button after I hit a button to start the car.

Now... if only Ford would give us Phone as a Key, I'd be very happy.
Interesting that your ForScan worked for disabling auto stop/start. FORScan allowed me to select “disable” but AS/S was not disabled. Finally had to resort to Auto Stop/Start Eliminator…works like a charm. I would be interested in the settings you used in ForScan to disable AS/S.

I did what the FORScan spreadsheet on here said to do.

Guess my point was no need for it and I’ve noticed my mpg was a good amount worse before I realized you can put it back to 2H plus I know “4A only engages when slipping” I disagree and could feel the torque steer just my observations
4 Auto keeps the front axle engaged so only the transfer case clutch has to engage when slip is detected. Lower fuel economy comes from spinning all the front drive components.

Not just slip. Normal acceleration it engages.

Why do people not like the automatic start? Just curious.

Personally I can't help but think of all of the unnecessary duty cycles that it puts on the starter. I live in a small town where the traffic lights are not a long wait. It saves me nothing in gas to stop the engine for 10-30 seconds at a time. The eventual need for a new starter will be expensive.
