Problems:
- Blocked rear view camera
Fix: Rotate top support 170-deg
- Spare tire impeded rack use
Fix: Kuat Hi-Lo 2” extension
- Spare tire needed wheel lock
Fix: Routed Kuat lock cable thru wheel. Temporary (free) solution!

Why did you need to lock the lock to the tire when it was looped to the hitch? Wouldn’t that secure it? I have the exact same problem. Have to buy the drop hitch extension. Can you open the lift gate with the extender and drop or does the tire still hit the rack?

I looped the cable thru to secure the spare with xtra-length cable.. it was an idea I was playing with since I didn’t have a locking lug.

The Kuat drop-extended allows full-gate opening in the Sherpa tilt-down position.

You would know. I ordered the drop hitch and it should arrive tonight so I'll try it out. Thanks for the response. I get it now on the spare. That is genius as a move to double up on the lock to also secure the spare without a locking lug. Nicely done.....nicely done good sir.

I use the same rack and extender. No cables though. I use locks on the hitch pins.

On the drop hitch, with the bikes loaded how much play is there that comes between the drop hitch and the receiver on the Bronco?? Not the Kuat and drop hitch I understand that can be tightened with the dial . I tried adding an extension to my kuat but there's no way I'm going down the highway with that janky setup . I did not like that at all watching my bikes bounce around in my rear view mirror. Very curious to know how some of you dealt with this issue.

My Kuat drop-extender doesn’t bounce driving down the road. It fits snug into the receiver that’s secured with a threaded bolt. Not sure which extender you’re using..

Awesome thanks for that I looked that up and yes That's what I should have got the first time around. What I use was just a generic extender with a pin that effectively allowed them bikes to bounce around.

Have you tried flipping the Kuat extender in the other orientation to raise the rack higher ? Or does that block the tailgate from opening?

I love Kuat racks. I’ve rebuilt my NV due to various rear enders (and backing into things). Almost no original parts on it now. Great company with great support.

Extender works best as shown.

Nice set up OP, I have same Sherpa 2.0 with the Khat drop hitch extender. Ultimately for the Bronco, but using it on Raptor until Bronco arrives. Thanks for confirming that the Kuat drop extender allows swing gate to open freely. Really like the quality, ease of use and looks of this rack
