Tonight we took our bronco, Mauka, to see the recent eruption of Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii. Being able to put the soft top back and view the lava flow from the comfort of our vehicle was awesome!

Found out during off roadeo the reason Ford used Lava in Sport mode was to mess to the attorneys. Ford had to change G. O. A. T. from goes over “ALL” terrain to goes over “any type” terrain. Apparently, the attorneys said that Lava was a terrain and Broncos couldn’t go over it. So Ford used Lava for sport mode.

Great photos! I love the Big Island. Was named after my father’s best friend on the island when he was a Sergeant on the base there after Vietnam. Three months before being born my parents moved to the mainland. Booooo!

I‘ve been blessed to see the lava flows there from a helicopter. Awesome experience. A Bronco with a soft top must be a blast on the island!

I was able to see the lava fountain when the cliff edge broke away and the lava tube was suspended above the ocean during the last Kilauea eruption. One of my all-time favourite things to see.

Went back a couple of years later and toured the areas that were covered with lava, where you could still see remnants of homes in some places. Not so nice to see.

The bronco is a blast out here! Putting the soft top down and cruising is great

I grew up in MN and don't miss the winters!
