Like many others, I purchased the Ford Performance rear diff cover using points. After installation everything seemed good, however after a while I noticed a buildup of fluid on the housing after longer trips.
Thinking it was leaking around the gasket (used the gasket that came with it), I re-installed with a new rubber re-usable gasket and hoped that would solve the issue. After a couple hundred miles small drips were again forming.
After a lot of testing, I was finally able to determine that the cover itself must have a micro crack or other manufacturing defect as all around the seal was dry, but diff fluid was forming in the area where the "Ford Performance" text is embedded in the part.
Luckily Ford has requested a new replacement part be sent to me for free, but wanted to post this in case anyone else might be having the same issue.
You can see a small amount of fluid buildup in the extruded area, this was after about 100 miles. I had isolated that area by encapsulating in tape to prevent fluid from escaping or entering that area.
