That's the car version of the LS with a peakier power band. What you didn't want right?

To your point, here are direct quotes from Ford about why they went small:

In a once unthinkable turnabout, Ford Motor Co. is bragging about how it now makes some of the smallest car engines in the industry. This is coming from a company that once made its money selling big, powerful trucks, SUVs and the Mustang muscle car.

Ford’s race to smaller engines represents a trend in the industry as all automakers woo fuel-conscious consumers and work to meet increasingly stringent fuel-economy standards, said Jesse Toprak, an analyst at TrueCar, an auto price information company.

“We believe that we are going to pay more for energy going forward and that fuel efficiency is the top reason to buy. That is going on all around the world now,” said Alan Mulally, Ford’s chief executive, in an interview with The Times this week.

Mulally said that Ford’s strategy of making powerful but smaller engines is part of the automaker’s goal to “increase the fuel efficiency every year forever.”

If I has as much distain as you had for a product, I wouldn't bash it on a forum with half truths, I'd move on. This world has enough negativity. This is a place where we come to have fun.
“Half truths” where?

Of course Ford is going to say their smaller engines are the greatest thing since the coming of Jesus. No company is going to come out and say “We built these smaller engines to get the government off our arse, they’re more costly long term, only return Marginally better fuel economy on the government loop tests, and we’re going to charge you more to buy them and remove the option of larger N/A engines.”

Everytime an automaker comes out with a new vehicle/engine/transmission suddenly they and the press talk about how horrible the outgoing vehicle/engine/transmission is and how perfect the new one is.

Eventually most people wise up to this and realize they’re being sold bull.

Well we know the Raptor is about to receive a V8 finally so Ford must have suddenly got worried about their competition eating their lunch.

That video just makes me want a supercharged V8 Raptor if anything. And I’m not the target market of such a vehicle. Definitely don’t have a pulse for the ecoboost Raptor.

And? Does this mean it will easy for you to drop in a V8?

10 years with no competition because there is no competetion. . Just because the TRX has a V8 does not mean it will beat the Raptor. Dodge/Jeep hell cats everything. 6 months from now, Dodge will discount the TRX by 12K. Don't believe me? Go shop for any Hellcat now and you get 12K off no questions asked.

:(

The 2.7 has been pumped up to 700+ HP as well. Rapter V8 is a special edition and in small numbers won't hurt their fuel rating score. It is all about consumer demand. I'm not going to say its not awesome, but it doesn't have to be shoehorned in like the BroncoLike it or not, your V8's aint gonna conform to the coming standards. They cannot be efficient enough without significant variable fuel, valve and displacement strategies. 50 mpg avg mandated in 2025.

Bottom line is you attacked the integrity of the 2.7 instead of your unhappiness with the engine choices. The global controlling bodies are the problem, not the manufacturers.

You say this like it’s a bad thing? Hellcat pickup in the $50k range? Sign me up.

Im well aware of the trials of installing a foreign engine into a modern vehicle, it’s done every day. It’s also much easier when you option for a base truck. Not to mention if you were to use the Coyote on a 2.7L truck which would utilize same trans/transfer.

Worse case scenario is that your using redundant computers to keep everything in harmony. Not a big deal.

That was my intention. Like it or not the manufacturer that offers the most compelling products will be the most successful, if that means fines are added to vehicle costs then so be it.

Your welcome to review the average fleet fuel economy from all vehicles sold in the United States since the 1970s, you’ll notice almost no change in average fuel economy over the past 20 years. Automakers can sell all the ecoweenie vehicles they want but consumers are clearly not interested. Consumers will gravitate toward larger vehicles in response to these changes.

Ford should be prepared for the future not focused on today.

There’s an approximately zero percent chance of that ever happening. Political posturing never makes an impact on reality. California can’t even supply its own energy needs as is without 10s of millions of electric cars.
