I have bought two new fob’s. They are the same fobs I have from Ford. They were $36 on Amazon. I still have my original two fobs. I printed the owners manual and tried several times to add the fob. It says on dash key add failed. Any advice as to what is going on ? I don’t want to pay Ford dealership $200 or $300 for 1 key fob.

I work for a dealership and I try to always use the two key method before using FDRS. Sometimes those aftermarket keys just will not program no matter what you try. Our parts department have given me keys before that were ordered from Ford, but were aftermarket and the vehicle just will not acknowledge them. I hope you can get it done without a trip to the dealer.

IRRC, manual misses the last step- press and hold ignition key to initiate programming of new key.

I tried and tried to do it…. until I realized you had to put the fob “key side down” in the console, and then it worked
